It's a cold February morning in New York and unfortunately, it's still a pretty empty mailbag. The only thing that makes me feel less badly about this is the long interesting newsletter sent out recently by Doug Birch, so that even if yours truly isn't getting the news, somebody is, and that's really all that counts.

He was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard in 1963 and has received many outstanding journalism awards. Still some political news from the fall elections, and the final result that Edwin I. Miller Jr. won the race for district attorney in San Diego, Calif. We understand that it was a hard and bitter fought contest and Bob's margin of victory was 71.000 votes out of a total of approximately 378,000.
Hopefully, as you read this article, the weather will have turned and what looks like the coldest winter in years will have been over. We can only hope that with the coming of spring '47's will feel more communicative and send us some word from the many scattered locations and of the interesting and varied lives they and their families lead. Until then, regards.
