Part of my Dartmouth liberal arts background included one course in basic mathematics. I find I can suitably apply one of this course's principles to our column: The whole equals the sum of its parts. You guys have been fairly nonresponsive in contributing the parts, thus making me fairly unable to expand the whole! Consequently, I offer you this rather small whole!

Charlie Miller is back in Hanover with the Admissions Office. He and RickWallick interview freshman candidates Charlie was at Pierce College in Athens last year on a Psi Upsilon Traveling Scholarship. He was an instructor of European History and Geography. Another Huey itinerant scholar is Pete DeShazo. He received a Reynolds to study Latin American history in Santiago de Chile and wound up as a part-time English prof. He is teaching three courses with 48 students— 43 being women between the age of 18 and 24. Looks like an overreaction to a monastic male environment somewhere in his psychogenic past! Apparently, he and several of his top students were forced underground after the assassination attempt on the Chilean army chief!

South American politics have kept other '69ers hopping. Donn Flipse, Mike Harvey, and company were declared personnae non gratae by the Costa Rican constabularies last spring. A sly drug plant resulted in the confiscation of their cabaret and an instant escort to the border. Harvey refused to give up the idylls of somewhere's wild, however, and is now an ecstatic forest ranger in the Southwest. Bill Rollings,Craig Prescott, Steve Cox, Mike, and others gathered for a high-altitude tripping camp in the Colorado Rockies late last August.

USAF 2nd Lieutenant, Bill Andrus (and wife Clare, Colby Jr. '69) is attending computer system school in that scintillating metropolis of Wichita Falls, Texas. Then they're off to Biloxi, Miss., and a final tour at Luke AFB, Phoenix, Ariz., next spring. Bill ran into C141 pilot Dick Lauer in Texas. Dick is still in specialized training and finishes up at McCord AFB in Washington state flying for the Military Airlift Command.

Newsy Notes From Nowhere: Curlconscious Les Reitman is the resident freak at Cincinnati's Med School. TroyShaver's working for Creare in Hanover. Fred Putnam is teaching high school level sciences as a Malaysian-based Peace Corpsman. Erik Carlson is at George Washington University Law School in Washington, D. C. George Ross is a second year fellowship-recipient at University of Penn. Don Morton married the former Jill Cosby in Wilton, Ct., last June. USMC 2nd Lt. Lane McBurney, after tank school at Ft. Knox last summer, was off to Camp Pendleton and then....

Writing a month before publication, I can offer my honest services as a pigskin prognosticator. I see Dartmouth winning three more, finishing 12th nationally, and accepting an Orange Bowl bid to play Tennessee.
