With the nation's attention turned to the crime problem, it is only fitting that '45 get into the act with Sumner Dorfman being the victim. Sumner's jewelry store (D.L. Dorfman and Sons, Boylston St., Boston - there, that's a better plug than most people get, Sumner!!) was the victim of a heist of diamond rings, watches, and bracelets estimated at $100,000 in December. Brandishing a revolver, the intruder forced Sumner and a clerk to fill a bag with the booty and then ran from the store firing four wild shots. Sumner and the clerk were unhurt.

Two new positions for '45s find JohnTruxal the vice-president for academic affairs at Polytechnic Institute, Brooklyn, N.Y., and Frank Aldrich executive vicepresident of Boston Overseas Corporation, the First National Bank of Boston's subsidiary for foreign investments.

Bill Gauntlett writes "Best wishes for the New Year. I was remarried, December 26. Would love to attend the reunion if possible." Secretary's note - let's hope that all '45s find it possible to attend the Terrific Twenty-fifth - 'twill be a great one!!

John Campbell's record came to light as a result of the publicity on his becoming general chairman of the YMCA drive in Salem County, N.J. John is chairman of the board of two concerns, Mannington Mills and Wellco Carpet Corp. (Calhoun, Ga.) and vice-president of Cal-State Floor Coverings, Inc., Los Angeles. In his spare (?) time John serves as a director of the Camden Trust Co., a member of the board of trustees, First Presbyterian Church of Salem, member of the board of managers of the Salem County Memorial Hospital, and a member of the George School Committee.

An S-O-S from Jack Skakle, hard at work on the 25-year book, who reports only a 30% return on his questionnaire. Jack is facing a deadline on the printing of the book and is pleading for all you procrastinators to take pen in hand NOW. He also stresses the fact that the current picture of us graying, balding '45s should be as close to an individual photo as possible, not the kind that shows good old Joe, the third man from the left in the fourth row. A good 25-year book goes a long way to making the Terrific Twenty-Fifth the memorable occasion it should be - so PLEASE send that 'material, both biography and pictures!!

More of Don Ash's recent transfer to the States. Don has been appointed to the staff of the Worldwide Coordinator of Transportation in the Pittsburgh executive offices, where he will serve as director of development and regional coordination. His most recent post with Gulf Oil in London saw him manager of transportation (Eastern Hemisphere) and transportation representative for Gulf Oil Trading Co. Good timing, Don, you're back in plenty of time for the 25th!!

The Class has sent its yearly gift of $200 to the Class of '45 Book Fund in memory of our deceased classmates. An award of $40 was recently given to Herschell Johnson '70 to cover expenses of a special project on which he was working.

And from Scott Parrot: "The Parrots are enjoying the freedom that accompanies grandparenthood. Son Kent and daughter Heidi both married with son and daughter respectively. Am at Belmont Hill School as director of development. Just bought a house in Dorado, Puerto Rico. Hope to rent at special rates to many '45s - guaranteed rum weather with everyday sunshine. (Sec. note - sounds good. Scott, will have to keep that in mind!!) Nonie and I will be at the 25th. Looking forward to Leggat's necktie and Tourtellot sliding into first base."

Until next month.
