The count down to reunion continues with 125 days to go between the time you read these notes and Monday, June 15, which starts our 40th. First returns received by Ed Brazil point to a larger attendance than in 1965 and there is a strong likelihood that we will set a new college record for a 40th.
Just so you will know your ABC's, Austin, Barnard, Blanchard, H. Booma, R. Booma, Bowes, Browning, Butler, Colucci, and Condon have said they will be there. As the year progresses, you can expect to learn from the Thirtyteer or Ed's bulletins the names of all those who are planning to return. Right now we urge you to return your acceptance card.
In retrospect we want again to commend Bud French, his assistants and all those who contributed to the 1969 Alumni Fund. Among all classes, 1930 was third in dollar total, sixth in increase in donors, second in Century Club members and third in $1000 and up donors. Let's also set records on the Third Century Fund.
Sam Stayman who is managing Strand & Company, a hedge fund, was the subject of a recent business magazine article about both his bridge prowess and belief that the skill and application required to be a bridge champion has made him successful in the investment business. Joe Placak, retired and living in North Carolina, is nonetheless active in the community, speaking at the Fine Arts Center on "Collecting Mark Twain," heading the Polk County Executive Health Program, and serving as county coroner. Another doctor, Art Olsen, has been elected president of the American College of Chest Physicians and of the American Bronchoesophegological Association which should commit him to a year of travel here and abroad to include Hanover in June we hope.
