Last year at this time New Hampshire was blessed with plenty of snow but unfortunately this is not the case this year. By and large the skiing has been only fair to date but we are hoping for better conditions before spring actually arrives.

John W. Brooke of Montrose, N. Y., brings us up-to-date on his activities as follows: "I have enjoyed reading about the class news events and the progressively increasing retirement activities of our members. The passing of the years is hard to digest. The fun years are just beginning now that the young folks are educated and on their own. I took the big step of retiring out of broadcasting several years ago to beat the rat race and commuting and attempted to sharpen my skills in writing. That led me to Famous Schools in Westport where I added some counseling. Anne and I have both resisted the idea of inactive retirement and she took up the fashioning of women's handbags and demand has exceeded production. Daughter Kim married a West Pointer, Capt. Don Pederson now at the AFB in Dayton, Ohio. They have three children. Son Jack after his graduation from Davidson went south and plunged into insurance - got his CLU - and is now in Texas as Houston manager for Elba Systems training insurance salesmen. Son George, still single, is in Manhattan pursuing the arts and trying to find himself after St. Lawrence University."

It is nice to hear from Lew Chester. After serving five years in the Air Corps, he came to Hartford, Conn., in 1947 and has been a practising physician specializing in ear, nose and throat. He is now chief of staff at the Mt. Sinai Hospital. Lew and Beatrice have two sons. Jonathan graduated from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and is now studying law at California Western in San Diego. Samuel is a junior at the University of Wisconsin and interested in hotel management. Lew occasionally sees Al Terry.

After teaching most of his life in his home state of Massachusetts, Ray Silva moved to Pelham, N. Y., in 1959. A History major, he changed disciplines and he is chairman of the mathematics department in the high school and also teaches evening courses at Yeshiva University.

AI Gemberling writes: "Sorry to have been so lazy but time has a way of getting by. I still live in Millburn, N. J., am still in sales for Sherwin-Williams, now have five grandchildren and a new family - two sons in the service and a daughter at home. My best to all of '33."

Bill Dorman is still living in Lansdowne, Pa., and brings us up-to-date with this news: "I'm employee relations manager (corporate staff divisions) for Atlantic Richfield now headquartered in New York City. Merger of Sinclair into Atlantic Richfield made things hectic for a while. I still spend a day or two a week in the Philadelphia area and still live at the same old address. Alice and I have three grandchildren, two boys and a girl. I ski whenever I can - Aspen, Vail, Alta, Mammoth, Vermont, Tuckerman's. Water ski in the summer."

Jack Fitzgerald writes from Jenkintown: "I have eight grandchildren, ages six to twelve. I am still with the Liberty Corp., Philadelphia holding the position of chairman of the board. I am trying to work myself into a semi-retired status so that I may enjoy my prime hobbies of deep sea fishing and spending more weeks on my boat in southern waters. I see Bill Lang quite frequently (who incidentally is enjoying grandfather status himself) and correspond frequently with Jim DeHaven on the West Coast. My life is devoid of any sensationalism and my wife and I lead a very happy and healthful existence." Can anyone top this for the greatest number of grandchildren?

Al and Betty Speare of Fairfield, Conn., have their first grandchild - "Philip Alden Speare, now six months. Happily they are living in Providence where Al is assistant professor at Brown. Our daughter Mary is living in New London where Bill is serving his Navy duty as medical officer on a Polaris sub."

It was nice to hear from Archie Gordon after many years of silence. He is living in Swampscott, Mass., and is sales manager of the Federal Distillers in Cambridge. He has three children all of whom are married and they have produced three grandchildren. He says he is getting older with fewer hobbies but no complaints.

John and Gertrude Donovan of Concord, Mass., planned to attend the National Principals' Convention in Washington in early February. While-there they expected to visit their son, Jack '66, who is finishing off his preparations to go to Vietnam as a refugee officer under the State Department's Agency for International Development Program. Their other fellow, Bill '69, is a first year student at Boston College Law School. His football injuries - dislocated knees - have placed him 1-Y category for six months.

Sid and Miriam Stoneman have brought us up-to-date on the activities of their children. Jane is married to Adam Stein who is practising civil rights law in Charlotte, N. C. They have three children. Betty is married to Bill Deknatal who is a working farmer is Cummington, Mass., where he grows cucumbers by the ton.

News Flashes: - Howie Farmer has been re-elected president of the board of trustees of St. Johnsbury (Vermont) Academy.
