Tim Brooks is alive and well, and wrote to bring me up-to-date on his activities. After two years as an Army lieutenant (one year in scenic Vietnam), Tim went to work for WTEN TV in Albany. In 1968, Tim entered Syracuse University where he earned a master's degree in television sciences in 1969. He is presently working with WCBS TV in New York. While valiantly preserving his bachelorhood, Tim is doing audience research. He writes that "if you are watching television, I am watching you." (Beware if you are a Johnny Carson fan!)
Tim writes that several other WDCR notables are in New York. Dave Shipler is a reporter for the Times, and Ted Gerbracht has sublimated his digital interests and taken a teaching job with IBM. In closing, Tim notes that while Al McKee is nowhere near New York, he is still putting us all on.
Jim Zurn was recently elected assistant secretary and a director of Zurn Industries, Inc., members of- the New York Stock Exchange. Although he did not join Zurn on a full-time basis until 1969, he had participated in their Management Training Program since 1960. He is also a director ot the Zurn Foundation. During his two years with the Army Corps of Engineers, he earned the Army Commendation Medal tor developing and implementing procedures for carrying out cost information research on the main battle tank system of weapons and vehicles.
I am grateful to Dave Clarke's father for responding to my plea to parents and wives of '64's to keep us informed about our classmates. He writes that Dave received a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Rochester last year, and is now a chemist at Shell Oil's Wood River research laboratory. Dave, his wife, Pat, and their daughter, Dawna, reside in Hazelwood, Mo.
Roger Aaron, who is about to try to lead '64 into an all-time record for giving to the Alumni Fund, writes that he has been practicing law in New York for two years. "Goose" and his lovely wife, Ginny, reside in Manhattan. He plays a lot of squash with Nick Listorti, who is still with TimeLife in New York.
This month's '64 Career Spotlight shines enviably upon Chuck Engstrom, who is the social director for the pleasure craft in the Chester River Water Militia. Those wishing to shiver Chuck's timbers may write to him at 117 Water Street, Chestertown, Md.
