In last month's column we reported that our class president, Ed Senghas, had written a note of congratulations to President Kemeny. We are delighted to reprint here the reply to Ed from Mr. Kemeny. "Dear Ed: Mrs. Kemeny and I have been overwhelmed by the letters and telegrams of congratulations we have received from Dartmouth alumni all over the world. I can only hope that I can live up to the high expectations expressed in these notes of congratulations.
"The next few years will be very exciting both for me personally and for Dartmouth College. We will need all the support we can get from the alumni. I would be grateful for any suggestions you might care to make now or in the future for the improvement of Dartmouth. Sincerely, John G. Kemeny '22 ad, President-elect."
Congratulations to Jordan Eskin who defied superstition and married Carole Daskam on Friday, February 13 in Harrison, N. Y. Our best wishes to Jordan and Carole for many years of happiness.
It seems as if there's nobody busier than Doug Burch these days and his schedule included an appearance as the guest speaker of the advertising club of Fairfield County in March, a featured speech at the annual meeting of the Newspaper Comics Council in New York City, and moderator of a seminar at Fairfield University on the Media Mix.
The response to the questionnaire sent to the class has been most gratifying and the results are being tabulated by a committee which will submit a full report at a later date.
The Alumni Fund drive is as essential this year as ever. It is independent from the Third Century Fund as it meets a different and continuing need. The simplest, most effective way to do the job for '47 is to send in your Alumni Fund pledge or contribution as soon as you receive an envelope from the college. If you do this, you will allow your classmates who are working as regional assistant class agents to spend their efforts on people who have not given recently or who need more follow-up work. Remember, these are your friends and classmates giving their own time on a voluntary basis and both the result and the amount of effort they would have to expend would be greatly reduced if you would send in your contribution or pledge at the earliest possible moment.
If the incoming news keeps up at this rate our column will be the shortest in the MAGAZINE, so a last burst of news before the summer starts would be most welcome.
