Having the honor of representing Dartmouth at the inauguration of Dr. John X. Jamrich as President of Northern Michigan University at Marquette, Mich. was George W. Rusch. Michael R. Pender was the representative of the College at the inauguration of Dr. Charles Vevier as President of Adelphi University in Garden City, N. Y. Another award to the distinguished recipient of so many previous awards, Governor Walter Peterson of N. H., was honored by the New England association of Beta Theta Pi. Walt, you remember, was a member of Beta at Dartmouth. The award was presented and he was the principal speaker at the association's annual banquet in Boston this past March.

Congratulations to Bill Knight who was recently elected an assistant vice president of the American Policy Holders Insurance Company at their recent annual meeting. Bill has been with American Policy Holders since 1968 and was appointed sales manager in 1970. Bill is still residing in Needham, Mass. Norma Beard, wife of our late classmate Neil Beard, sent us a very interesting article about her daughter Betsy reprinted from the Greensboro N. C., Daily News. Betsy left for Australia last July after graduating from high school and spent six months at a high school near Brisbane, Australia. Her trip was sponsored by the Geebung Rotary Club of Australia. Betsy is now back in North Carolina attending Salem College in Winston-Salem. As you can well imagine, it was an interesting, enjoyable and valuable experience for Betsy. Norma has a son Neil "Chip" Beard who is a student at the Christ School in Arden, N. C., and a daughter Mary Lou age 11. The family resides at 1105 Sunset Drive, Greensboro, N. C.

A very nice letter from Jack Wilson who said that he has regretfully ignored the appeals for class news in the past, but the embarassing dearth of it in our recent columns made him sit down and send us the following information: "I am now vice president of D/A General, Inc., Needham, Mass., a company that produces surveillance cameras for use mostly in banks Before joining D/A General, I was President of Phillips Screw Company and before that from 1948-65 I worked for the Carr Fastener Company in Cambridge Mass. I have lived at the above address since 1953 and have been very active in Town of Wayland affairs, having been on the finance committee for three years, the school committee for nine years and the school building committee for twelve years. I am currently chairman of the board of selectmen in Wayland. My oldest son. Dean, is at the University of Hartford and the youngest is still in the Jr. High School in Wayland. My wife, Barbara, and I have been separated for two years.

"A couple of months ago I had a pleasant lunch with Dick Stevenson, who is principal of the Sharon High School. I hear from Ed Senghas occasionally and rarely from Dick Wetherhead and BingRussell. I will try to write again some time within the next 24 years."

John Mason has been appointed General Manager of the Fuel Oil Sales Division of Texaco, Inc. "Maz" has been with Texaco since 1952, the year he received a law degree from Boston College. He held sales positions in New England, Maryland, and New York from 1952 until 1967 when he became manager of employee and public relations in the Paragon Oil Company Division. A year later he was named vice president of the division. He and nis wife Ruth have four children and live in Wilton. Conn., where Maz has served on the Police Commission and been active in Little League.

A luncheon meeting hosted by Alan and Sally Epstein on April 3, was held in their home in Harrison, N. Y. Delicious sand; wiches and beer were enjoyed by all especially Alan, Sally and Charlie Breed '51 who had driven down from Hanover that very morning. The purpose of the meeting attended by Ed Senghas, Dick Menin, Townes Harris, Frank Weber, Dip Hollerith, Doug Burch, Alan Epstein Charlie Breed '5l, and yours truly was to discuss the College's new program for 25-year giving which is now based on a special effort in the 25th reunion year. It was agreed that '47 will undertake a major effort to increase their alumni fund performance during the 1972 campaign and that goals will be set in the fall after the results of early special solicitations art known. A series of meetings are planned to early September for various regions, an these will be held in private homes with '47s in the areas invited. The dual purpose of this type of meeting will be to encourage reunion attendance as well as to enlist support and assistance for the reunion giving program.

With the big year of the 25th coming up, we will have a benefit of 50-yard line sea and it is expected that many '47s will take advantage of this. Don't forget the Yale "me is in Hanover this year and we understand that there is some room available for '47s at the Woodstock Inn. As it is probably not too early to make these reservations it is also not too early to put in your calendar, especially if you are a real fanner the fact that June 15 to 18, 1972 is the '47 25th reunion.

Based on the successful alumni ski weekend held in Hanover in March, the College is now planning to combine a golf and tennis weekend in Hanover over the long 4th of July holiday. The program includes lodging and meals at the Hanover Inn green "fees and court fees, special tournaments and prizes, evening programs, swimming privileges, and a great chance to get together with classmates and friends in other classes. The all inclusive charge is $120 per couple with proportionate reductions for singles. This includes three nights' lodging and meals. Reservations can be made by writing Golf and Tennis Weekend, 203 Crosby Hall, Hanover, N. H. along with a $30 deposit per couple. Sounds like fun.

Before closing out for this issue, and for the 1970-71 school year, let us remind you that if you have not yet sent in your Alumni Fund check please do so immediately as checks must be received in Hanover before June 30, to be counted for this year. The many reasons have been spelled out over and over again and need not be repeated here, but it is the individual response that in the last analysis is the only thing that counts.

Have a good summer. Drop us news of what's going on, and we'll be seeing everyone in the fall of '72.
