I hope this issue reaches you in time to remind you of the reunion planned after the Penn game on October 9. As usual George Drowne has made reservations at the Norwich Inn for the happy hour and dinner. If you have not already done so, please contact George in Norwich and let him know you are coming. If you can't stay for dinner, at least drop by the Norwich Inn after the game for some hospitality.

The following letter from Cliff Rosser of Cleveland was received from Yugoslavia too late to make the June issue: "I'm happy to enclose my contribution to the Alumni Fund, not alone to help in this worthy cause, but also to get our hyperkinetic Cleveland area fund raiser off my back. I firmly believed I had eluded Alva Allen's compelling appeals, until his personal letter reached me in the interior of Yugoslavia! Several years ago, I took an early retirement from the bank I was associated with for almost 30 years. My wife and I had started a little business a few years prior, which has proven modestly profitable. Our daughter, our only offspring, obtained a Master's degree in education, and a husband about a year ago. These events occurring in such a happy sequence, account for my wife and me being in Yugoslavia. Our daughter and her husband took over the care of our home and our poodle, while we picked up a VW camper in Luxembourg in January and have a driven over 9,000 miles to date—with all of northern Europe yet to go. We've met and talked with hundreds of young Americans traveling about Europe. These contacts have reaffirmed my faith and confidence in the value of their future and their contribution to a better society. I can but hope to contribute in some small way to their opportunity for a meaningful education."

Pete and Claris Mankowski, Jenner, Calif, have unretired and they are on the sales staff of The Sea Ranch, 2½ hours north of San Francisco. It takes up a ten mile stretch of ocean frontage consisting of 5400 acres for a country home colony and the pictures are just beautiful. Pete recently had lunch with Bobby Burns in Los Angeles. Pete and Claris are planning a fall trip to England and Greece. They would like to see any '33ers who get in their area.

Bill Quinn is still judge of Common Pleas Court in Canton, Ohio with time off for golf in the summer and bowling in the winter. "Age has taken its toll on the latter two activities His daughter Deborah graduated from Ashland College in August and hopes to teach.

From Blacksburg, Virginia, "Brownie"(Weldon) Brown writes: "I'm still teaching both ends of American history at VPI—Colonial and Contemporary, and having a ball doing it. Had I sought for decades a finer profession and nicer place to work I could not have done better than I have right here. This year I will have traveled approximately 20,000 miles, including a most informative trip to Russia. My brother-in-law Miller Allen Wachs and his wife Margaret went with us to Russia. Before leaving for Russia my friends all had one bit of advice for me: 'When you get to Russia, Brownie, SHUT UP.' Thus I got back."

Pete Grace, Glendale, Mo. brings us up to date on his activities: "Three down-four to go. Two sons and one daughter married. One just out of college, two in and one to go. By our 45th I should be in the clear but not out of the red. A happy, rewarding group; scattered from Cambridge, Mass. (Paul '68) to Los Angeles. I continue as a quantity manufacturer of outdoor advertising signs. Used to travel a great deal and visit with '33ers but haven't done so recently. Bob Turner and MartyKerwin are other '33 men in St. Louis."

Recent weddings included Jeff and BeaDavis' son Chip to Pat Mitchell in Randolph, Vt. Jud Pierson and Norm andMarg Erlandson were on hand. Margaret Smith, daughter of Hal and Copey Smith, on August 7 to Winthrop H. Smith, Jr. in Waterbury, Conn. The couple's families are not related.

News Flashes: Joe Celano and son Paul won the Maryland State Father and Son golf tournament at the Columbia Country Club. Jim McFarland has been elected a director of the Prudential Insurance Company.

Thanks to the initiative of Carl Rugen, 117A Old Nassau Road, Jamesburg, N. J., there is going to be a '33 get-together for the Princeton game on November 20. Carl is sending out invitations to all classmates on the eastern seaboard to gather at the Rossmoor Club for tail-gating and then travel by chartered bus to Palmer Stadium and return by bus to the Forsgate Country Club (across the street from the Rossmoor Club) for dinner. It's going to be a great event so be sure to attend. Please contact Carl right away.
