Our Class column was scooped last issue by the Alumni Magazine itself in reporting the appointment of Dave Squire as the new president of the General Association of Alumni of Dartmouth College for 1971-72. This is indeed an important appointment and the entire Class of '47 should be honored by Dave's selection. As most of you know, Dave is vice president for Student Affairs at Brandeis University, having assumed that post in January 1969 after serving as Senior Adviser for Economic and Social Affairs for the United States Mission to the United Nations. Prior to that he had been Deputy Director of the Job Corps in the Office of Economic Opportunity. He turned to public service in 1965 when, at the age of 39, he retired as chief executive officer of Ansonia Mills of Taunton, Mass., which had outstanding growth and prosperity under his leadership.

Believe or not, that's all the miscellaneous news that we had about '47s. Fortunately, there is no dearth of exciting things to write about due to the fact that plans for our 25th Reunion in Hanover June 15, 16, 17, 18 are well under way. The first formal meeting of the complete reunion committee was held on September 17 at the home of Chairman Frank Weber in Ridgefield, Conn. Unfortunately, we were not able to make it but have received a full report from Frank as well as notes from Alan Epstein. In attendance at this meeting, in addition to Frank, were John"Jiggs" Fuller, Doug Burch, Sax Fletcher, Townes and Roz Harris, DickHollerith, Alan Epstein, George Bingham and, giving us the benefit of his advice as reunion chairman for the Class of '46, Dave Weld. Also present was Dave Orr representing the College and indicating the strong desire of the College to help in every way possible in planning our reunion. The feeling that we got after reports of this meeting were that we are fortunate in having a most competent and dedicated committee. The emphasis in planning is not only to insure that the men of '47 enjoy the reunion but that the wives and teenagers and younger children all have equally good a time, and that it is truly a family reunion. There is at this stage no formal program planned, but we do know that we will be residing in the dormitories on Tuck Mall, that there will be several separate adult tents as well as a teenage tent with a rock 'n roll band, that there will be educational seminars and seminars on Dartmouth today, that Harley Timbers is planning a golf and tennis tournament, and, of course, a class banquet which will be attended by President Kemeny and our classmate Governor Peterson. So if by any chance you have not yet made a definite commitment and blocked out the dates of June 1.5 to 18, please do so immediately as it is certainly going to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

As you read this, there still should be time for you to try and make the informal reunions still scheduled. There will be a tent with beer and '47s gathering both at the Cornell Game at Hanover on November 13 and at the Princeton Game at Princeton on November 20. See you there.

Frank Weber (left), 1947's 25th reunion chairman, was in Hanover in June to seehow '46's spectacular went and to get some tips from Dave Weld, center, 25threunion chairman for '46. With them is Greg Stillman '45, whose "door prize" at hisown 25th was a repeat 25th reunion with the Class of 1946.
