T'was the night before Christmas, a time to be merry, but who had to work, your good old secretary. Actually, I'm trying to dasher this off so that Phyllis and the boys and I can prancer on down to San Juan for a much needed vacation. So if this column doesn't appear to being together, blame it on visions of sugar plums, royal palms or some such thing.

Continuing in a festive mood, I am happy to pass on news of the marriage between Alexander Ingham and Miss Nadine Lawson. The ceremony took place on October 7 in East Brunswick, N. J., where Alexander, better known as Sandy, is executive editor of the Sentinel Publishing Co.

Another festive occasion took place on December 11 at the N. Y. Touchdown Club. Dick Griggs, Dave Hiley, SpenceMorgan, Arnie Sigler, Mickey Strauss,Al Stowe, Alex Summer, Rog Zissu, and yours truly were on hand for the annual Lambert awards luncheon. As you know, Dartmouth was the unanimous choice for the Lambert Trophy, symbolic of Eastern football supremacy in the university division. About the only person not attending was Joe Paterno, as his Edsel broke down on the trip in from Pennsylvania.

A promotion for Bob Phillips has been announced by Chesebrough-Pond's Inc., the firm he has been with since 1968. He has been appointed senior brand manager in the health and beauty products division, and as such will take on responsibility for their Vaseline brand products in addition to the Pond's products he was already handling. Before joining Chese- brough-Pond's, Bob was a product manager in the Kool-Aid division of General Foods. He and his wife Pat, the former Claire Patricia Cole, have one child and live in Montclair, N. J.

Major Don Knapp writes that in the past year he has been moved from the U. S. Army Hospital in Yokohama to a similar institution in Tokoyo, and expects to be moved again. Don has been chief of the ophthalmology service at each hospital, while his wife and young daughter absorb the Oriental culture. If you're going to move again, Don, how about coming back to the U.S.A. to absorb some of our culture?

A Texas neighbor of the Tom Grows has informed us that Tom and his wife have undertaken a most educational, interesting and satisfying experience in giving medical-technical aid in Nigeria. Their problem will come when it is time to leave, as the Nigerians are a friendly and outgoing people who fully appreciate the aid they are receiving.

As for birth announcements, we have two to report. Mr. and Mrs. MikeHeitner announced the arrival of Samuel Kip on October 19, 1970 and Mr. and Mrs.Ed Johanson became the proud parents of Jennifer on May 29, 1970. Some guys will do anything for a tax deduction.

I've been asked to publicize the First Annual Dartmouth Alumni Ski Weekend which will take place in Hanover on March 6-7, 1971. A complete package is being offered, and for all the details you can write to Dennis Dinan, 203 Crosby Hall, Hanover, N. H. 03755. Sounds like fun and perhaps we can get a group of '60's together for a weekend of schuss and schnapps.

Late news flash! Jake Crouthamel was appointed head football coach at Dartmouth on January 4, 1971. This is quite an honor for both Jake and the Class of 1960, and I'm sure that all of you will want to join me in extending heartiest congratulations to Jake. A more detailed story appears elsewhere in this issue. Now, Jake, about those season passes on the 50-yard line ...

There's quite a bit more news, but I'll save it for a later date. Besides, it's hard to concentrate with that nut in the red suit stomping on my roof. Somebody ought to tell him that we don't have a chimney.
