This installment is being written during Christmas week which is always a festive time. Our family spent Christmas Day skating at Rockefeller Center, sightseeing, dining out, and we even had time to catch a movie before heading back to the suburbs. As usual, it rained off and on. This is not too surprising since we set a new yearly record for rainfall in 1972. However, I'm happy to report that our spirits were not dampened in the least.

Roli Kolman is back in his native St. Louis where he has joined Eagle Rubber Co. as marketing manager. Roli left St. Louis two years ago to join Decorator Industries of Pittsburgh as marketing director, but was wooed back by Eagle where he will develop and coordinate all marketing activities for Eagle and Kent Sporting Goods Co., a wholly owned subsidiary. After Dartmouth, Roli received a master of science degree from 8.U., served as a lieutenant with the Army's Psychological Warfare Battalion, and was new products manager with Hallmark Cards, Inc. He holds memberships in the American Marketing Association, N.Y.A.C., and the local Dartmouth Club. Roli and Mimi are the parents of two boys, 8 and 4.

Douglas Whitney was recently named as one of the "Outstanding Young Americans" a select group of accomplished people between ages 21 and 35 from a cross section of America. What does it take to receive this recognition? Well, take Doug's typical Saturday. Being chairman of the Fairport (N. Y.) Rotary's Gas Day for the benefit of a local camp, he was up at 6:30 a.m., and spent the morning tending gas pumps and wielding a squeegee. At 10 a.m., he sprinted home and deployed an army of petition searchers on a canvass of the Fairport school district. Doug also authored the petition. The focus of Doug's interest is the community of Fairport, where he has a law practice and where he has spent most of his life. He received his degree from the University of Michigan Law School and served as an Army officer in Vietnam. The chaotic military experience made him realize that it isn't until one becomes personally involved in something that one becomes really concerned, and that this is true for all levels of society. Returning home, he ran for village justice and held a four-year tenure until being beaten in 1971 when the opposition swept the town. Doug is also active in his church and is on a committee seeking a health center. And that's what it takes to get the recognition Doug has earned.

Winfield Robinson has been named vice president in charge of operations of Andrew Redmond, Inc., of North Anson, Maine. The Company, a subsidiary of Timberlands, Inc., is a leading producer of hardwood gunstock blanks, furniture parts and hardwood lumber. Win received his MBA from Wharton and has worked in the marketing departments of Exxon, Gillette and Container Corp. of America. Win is just one of many who apparently has opted for the peaceful country life instead of big city lights.

Speaking of officers, Tom Green has joined Creative Public Relations and Advertising Associates, Inc. of Lowell, Mass., as vice president. Just to the North, Dr. Sol Rockenmacher has been named Chairman of the Dover (N. H.) United Jewish Appeal. Sol has been practicing pediatrics there since 1969, after having graduated from Harvard Medical School and completing training at the Boston Children's Hospital. He is on the staff of the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Locally, Sol serves as a member of the Temple Israel's board of directors, the Governor's Council for Developmental Disabilities and is a director of the Strafford Guidance Center.

Although I didn't plan it this way, this will be a short column. But then, it's a short month.
