You may have noted that the tuition at Dartmouth has now been raised by $270 to with board being increased by $50 to 5790. Page 25 of our 25th Reunion Book shows that for the Class of '43, tuition was only $225 a semester and board $135 a semester! This cost comparison accentuates he need for increased giving in the 1971 Alumni Fund drive which will be under way by the time you read this.
Our other request: the Alumni Records Office has sent all alumni an information form. Please take the few minutes necessary to fill it in and send back to Nancy Elliott in the postage prepaid envelope which accompanied the form. The information is not only of value to the College, it keeps your Class secretary's records up to date too.
Turning to the latest information—which is really the raison d'etre for this column— current mail. Warren Taylor reports that his son, who is home after 21 months in Vietnam is working as a ski instructor before returning to school. Pres Moore writes that he just spent three weeks in Russia on a housing study. Pres is in architectural housing work with I.M. Pei. He admits to being commodore of the Wellfleet Yacht Club; wife Clair is an artist-painter who expects to have a private show soon; children about ready for college. Scott Tilden, who spent only freshman year in Hanover, writes that he finished college at Stanford when his parents moved to California. Scott has four children, two living in Toronto, Canada, and two in California. He is currently an Industrial Relations Manager for a manufacturing firm—recently transferred to the mid-west from the San Francisco area. Hobbies are listed as hiking, bicycling, bird- watching, Audubon Society, Sierra Club, and conservation. (N.B. for any others of you that may not have graduated with the Class, we still want to know what happened to you and what you are doing. Take a lead from Scott and send on the information.)
Our president, Charlie Donovan says things are about to get started for our "accelerated" 30th reunion which will take place a year from this June. We'll have more for you in the near future on this, but in the meantime, start planning for the informal reunion this fall which is scheduled for October 1 and 2 the weekend of the Holy Cross game. $25 to Paul Young will hold a room for you. Incidentally, Charlie writes that he bumped into Pete("Howie") Geer in Grand Central Station. Pete was full of apologies for missing the last fall reunion but plans to make this one.
The Pan Am Clipper publication of February 15, 1971, indicated that one of the apparent perquisites of Ambassador Bus Mosbacher's job was sitting with Gina Lollobrigida and others at Pan Am's table during the recent United Nations Ball. Meanwhile, out in Detroit . . . BillSeidman has been reappointed to a second three-year term of the Detroit Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Finally, Paul Bill writes that he left G.E. after 23 years to become general manager and executive vice president of Darling Valve and Manufacturing Co. of Williamsport, Pa., which makes valves for nuclear power systems. He and Martha are looking forward to the marriage of their daughter Claire to Curt Orsinger, USMC.
