I have just returned from Class Officers Weekend where Bob Eleveld and I represented the class. As always it was a very enjoyable weekend providing a good opportunity to see what the College is doing. I must admit that I get a Tittle jealous seeing some of the fine programs being offered today. At Friday afternoons meeting, several students reported on the Outward Bound Program in which a group of students, from Dartmouth and other schools leave the campus, camp out alone and then rejoin the group after a few days of solitary living (in the winter term the temperature sometimes drops well below zero) for courses at the Ravine Lodge given by professors of varying disciplines.

president Kemeny spoke on Friday night to a coed audience about future plans for Dartmouth. Naturally coeducation was a major subject and it was this that evoked a lengthy, carefully prepared response by Richard K. Montgomery '35 of Deerfield, Ill The crux of his statement was that he called into question the validity of the Quayle Report, that he felt the College was proceeding precipitously toward coeducation and "that coeducation had not been sold well enough to the alumni with the result that considerable alumni support would be lost.

I do not want to dwell here on all of the details, but feeling runs very high on both sides of this question. I urge all of you to read the most recent Bulletin which has a very fair analysis by Trustee Charles Zimmerman '23. If you have any feelings on either side of this question, please communicate with me and I will see that your thoughts are passed on to the committee.
