Our apologies, beloved classmates, for our dereliction. Locked into an Outward Bound course at Hurricane Island, Me., from mid-August to mid-September (class notes deadline September 2), beautifully isolated from the so-called everyday world, and now, immediately upon our return to so-called civilization, committed to a cross-country business trip, we have found no time or way to compose this column. We might, with considerable justice, take refuge in the fact that you have not provided us with the needed copy, but nevertheless we confess the primary failure to be ours. In return for your indulgence, you have our promise to do our best the rest of the year.
