Judge Bob Fullerton '51 and wife Sally took on the logistics for our annual meeting and banquet held April 7 at Denver's Tiffin Inn. The steak dinner was delicious, the arrangements enhanced the conviviality of the 77 alumni, wives and guests present. The Fullertons' fun-and-games laced the agenda together with door prizes, domestic and imported, and at least one of the Judge's favorite jokes.
A friendly welcome was given MikeMcGean '49, Secretary of the College and guest speaker of the evening. Mike's review of the issues at Hanover invoked participa- tion in the context of "A Report on the Family Business."
Hank Edler '53, nominating committee chairman, prefixed his report with an accolade to outgoing Club President BobMontgomery '56—for Bob's fine chair- manship over the last two terms. The slate of nominees for the coming year was unanimously approved: Bob Halbert '59, president; Bob Jeavons '48, vice president; Don Jones '43, re-elected as secretary; Pete Wells '63, assistant secretary; BruceEspy '40, treasurer; Fred Fisher '63, assistant treasurer.
Hank Edler kept the floor for an important announcement relative to his taking on the recently created chairmanship of job-finding for students and recent graduates. A letter had just been sent to all alumni in Colorado, explaining the establishment of a clearing house, and urging communication of any available openings for either part time or permanent positions.
Master-of-Ceremonies Montgomery summed up the year's activities of the Association with special mention of John Ratigan's capable service as District Enrollment Chairman. John Ratigan '61 will continue with this responsibility for the coming year. His report from the floor disclosed seven female applicants for next fall. Other statistics included the coverage by his committee of some 50 high schools throughout Colorado, and the contacting of approximately 250 students. In charge of interviewing between 50 and 60 candidates is Len Waldbaum '63.
Also highlighted was this year's series of monthly luncheons, Don McMichael '53 in charge. Guest speakers included news commentator Cedric Foster '24; CharlesMiller, Assistant Director of Admissions; and Chuck Lewis '58, general manager of the huge Copper Mountain Ski Area now under construction.
The year-in-review covered these special functions: a poolside reception last summer for undergrads and parents; the traditional (and apparently the last as such) stag picnic; the ever-successful holiday cocktail party; the intimate gathering one evening last December, occasioned by Vice President of the College George Colton's mission on the coeducation decision.
The Annual Meeting was closed—just as it was opened, and embellished at every opportunity in between—with an exhortation to attend this year's three-day Alumni eminar. Pete Wells '63 is again in charge. The event is scheduled for May 5 to 7, at the High Country Inn, close to Winter Park, Colo.
