I thought I saw a familiar face not too long ago on TV. Playing a tennis pro Romeo and possible murder suspect on the Ironside show was PaulSchwartz Hampton. An article in the Kittanning, Pa. Leader Times headlines, Director Needs Rock Singer So He Casts Rock Songwriter. "To play a young rock singer and songwriter with whom Doris Day, in her Doris Martin role, has a romantic encounter on 'The Doris Day Show,' producer Edward Feldman found a young rock singer and songwriter." His name is Paul Hampton and he appears in the role of Johnny Reb in an episode of the series on the CBS Television Network. He laces his performance on the program with the singing of some of his own music. Hampton was once a member of a threeman song-writing team. The other two guys were Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Bacharach and David have since gone on to better things, and so has Hampton. To date his biggest commercial success has been 'Oklahoma City Times' which was recorded by Bobby Sherman and has sold more than one and a half million copies. Despite the fact that he considers himself primarily a singer and tunesmith, Hampton has done considerable acting. Currently he can be seen costarring with Diana Ross and Billy Dee Williams in the film 'Lady Sings the Blues.' We'll be looking for you on the tube and silver screen, Paul
Digging into some of the notes you write on the back of your dues slips now, Mrs. Stan Beiley writes from Miami, Fla., where I wouldn't mind being right now since the temperature here in Boston hovers at 0. "Stan is a partner in Paul, Landy, Beiley & Bartel law firm. He travels widely and has seen Paul Frankel, Paul Robertson Don Chickering and Rudy Laßusso this year. We have three children, Karen, Lauren and Eric, 3 months. Avid Dolphin fans, we plan to make Super Bowl and redeem ourselves." I guess you did just that Beileys.
Again the distaff side writes that the Dr. Dan Palants "just bought a home in Lexington, Mass., where Dan is a partner in the Lexington Pediatric Associates. Our new home address is 16 Slocum Rd. Lexington, Mass. 02173. We also have added to our family - Billy, age 3 years, has a sister, Stefanie, already a year old. Dan remains as a clinical instructor of pediatrics at Tufts Medical School, and continues to do as much as he can at the Boston Floating Hospital's Birth Defects Center and Center for Genetic Counselling."
Thank god for peace in Vietnam. Let us pray it continues and that there will be no more war! Mike Wygant wrote from Vietnam back in September, "My second year in Vietnam began yesterday. The US still has a role to play here, albeit a greatly diminishing one. To quit and give the other side what it has failed to gain through force of arms would be grossly irresponsible. These people do not choose what the other side offers. To abandon them at this juncture would rebound to our national shame. The right path is not always the easy one, but wise leadership must choose the former. A bit of philosophizing but this place lends itself to same. Should be back in the U.S. next spring for a new assignment."

This month's column is a little lean. Actually I am holding some letters so I will have something to print next month. I do try to space things out so that explains why some of the news and letters don't get printed right away. Now if everybody took some time and dropped me a note... Oh well, next month I will have a report on the Ski Weekend.
