I can't believe the whole summer has gone by. With trips to Virginia Beach and to Stowe plus a very busy summer of business, I guess we didn't sit idly by. We played a fair amount of tennis; that sport's popularity is obvious even here in Wellesley where it has never been much of a problem getting a court.

I was in Hanover a week ago trying to sell some electrical materials to the College and to Mary Hitchcock. All my contacts were out so there wasn't much business to be had, but I ran into some friends in the persons of Nan and Dick Stoddart and two of their lovely children, Rich and Alison. Dick and Nan were taking in the Alumni College and enjoying it thoroughly although Dick did say it wasn't quite the vacation he expected. The Alumni College (theme this year was "The American Dream") offers some very stimulating lectures and discussions plus a wealth of optional activities. They manage to keep the kids busy up there too with a very active program that all seem to enjoy. The Stoddarts were housed in Russell Sage Hall in a room that as one might expect was amply stocked. Dick looked somewhat portly, but very sportiv in this knit clothes. He is working for Eaton Corp. in Cleveland and traveling extensively, mostly via the company jet which made a quick trip to Lebanon to pick him up when the company found it couldn't function without him one day. Dick and Nan have also taken advantage of some European business travel, but all that travel has taken its toll in that Dick's political life has had to be put aside in favor of the corporate life.

On my return to Stowe, Jane, the kids and I made an appearance at that towns annual social event, the Rotary Club Auction, and what to our wondering eyes should appear, but Dick and Donna Lee Frisch and their two children, Alex and Laurel. They were up enjoying that beautiful Vermont scenery. They got about the best week of the summer which overall has been pretty bad weatherwise. Dick managed to pick off a gallon jug of fancy grade maple syrup and admission at some of the livlier bistros in Stowe.

The August 21 issue of Time Magazine could well have had Phil and LornaSarrel on the cover. That issue which featured an article on "Sex and the Teenager" frequently quoted and described the work of the Sarrels who are sex counselors at Yale. For those of you who have kids approaching their teens, the article is important reading. "The Student Guide to Sex on Campus" was written by Yale students with the help of the Sarrels. Time says, "Sarrel has been dubbed 'the Charlie Reich of sex counseling' by an irreverent observer, and like the author of "The Greening of America," he is very popular: 300 men and women crowd into his weekly lectures at Yale, and more than 1,000 other colleges have asked for outlines of his course. For good reason. The Sarrels' careful counseling has cut the VD and unwanted pregnancy rate at Yale to nearly zero." We might do well to ask Phil and Lorna to speak to us at Reunion.

I am pleased that some of you have broken silence and are dropping me some mail Keep up the good work.

Don Viny writes, "Under the not so gentie prodding of my wife Christiane, I am writing to state that after three years of American life, we are returning to Europe. I have almost completed a degree in Elementary Reading, my latest teaching field; we have a Greco-Turko-Americo shadow puppet series on the local educa- tional TV channel; we still have one son and one Siamese cat. I have been offered a post with DOD (Department of Defense) schools somewhere in Germany. That is all we know so far. Aside from a neighboring batch of Dartmouth men, I have seen none of the '58 clan. I would not be surprised to run into many of them if we end up in Frankfurt or Hamburg. Just tell your readers to watch for advertisements of X rated puppet shows; that's where we'll be. If and when we get settled, I trust there will be floor or bed space for sojourning '58's."

The Rouse Company, developers of that widely publicized new city, Columbia, Md?, has announced that Mort Fisher has been elected an associate general counsel. He had been assistant general counsel. Mort went from Dartmouth to Yale, earned his law degree in 1961, and was. associated with two Baltimore law firms before join- ing Rouse. He and wife Ann live at 1325 Harden Lane in Baltimore. Dare one ask why not in Columbia?

Otto Wagenbach graduated from the Program for Management Development at the Harvard Business School on May 10. Otto was at Harvard for three months with 152 able executives from the United States, Canada, and 28 countries overseas. The three-month program was eatablished in 1960 to prepared middle-echelon managers for greater responsibilities.

Skip Coggin has been named vice president, marketing at B. F. Perkins Company. He was previously employed with Polaroid as product manager for technical products. Perkins is a division of Standard International Corporation, a diversified manufacturer headquartered in Andover, Mass., and manufactures paper and textile finishing machinery, calendering rolls and Mullen Testing equipment. Skip and Winn and their two girls are living in Longmeadow, Mass. They are a longer distance from sailing, but I understand Skip's tennis has gotten very sharp.

Dr. Peter Epstein was married on June 25 in New York to Miss Abigail Sarah Ostrin. The new Mrs. Epstein is a teacher at the Westside Community Nursery School. She was graduated in 1966 from Hunter College and she received a master's degree in education from NYU where she is a doctoral student in anthropolopy. Pete is completing studies as a fellowship student in cardiology at the Brookdale Hospital Center in Brooklyn. He received his medical degree from Tufts and served as a captain in the Air Force.

The Board of Education of Monroe, Conn., has appointed Ted Merritt to the post of superintendent of schools, effective August 1. Ted did graduate work in guidance at Rutgers and received his masters degree in education from the University of Bridgeport in 1965 and has completed all requirements with the exception of the dissertation at Teacher's College, Columbia University for a doctor's degree in educational administration. Ted and Linda have three sons Thomas, 8; Andrew, 6 and David, 3.

When I was in Hanover, I learned that Dave Bradley is seeking a seat in the New Hampshire State Senate. Dave will be hosting our mini-reunion again at his law offices across from Leverone Field House before and after the Princeton game on October 14. I hope to see some of you there.
