JUNE 1973 EDWARD B. REDMAN

June is the month for the members of the Class to send in their second gift to the 1973 Alumni Fund. I am sure that all of us realize that Dartmouth College needs every dollar it can get. Please help.

Bill Page made a short trip to his daughter's in Florida and also to his sister's home in Bradenton.

The following letter has been addressed to the editor of this Magazine by Bob Adriance:

"Now that we have removed, at the request of "Native Americans" various reminders of the Dartmouth's Indian heritage, I think we should be concerned with the use of Dartmouth Green. Our citizens of Irish heritage may feel that they are insulted by Dartmouth's use of green as its color.

"This is a period of great sensitivity on the part of ethnic minorities. Negro Minstrals are out, the study of Shakespeare's "Merchant of Venice" is forbidden, dialect jokes are in bad taste since they may cause resentment in some ethnic group.

"I suggest that the Board of Trustees appoint a Color Committee to consider the adoption of some other color than green. Obviously orange won't do, Russia might not like our adoption of red, and yellow is certainly not appropriate. What color can Dartmouth adopt that will be innocuous?"
