The annual '28 fall reunion will be held October 11-13, with the highlights being the Princeton game and the party immediately after the game at the Norwich Inn. Of course all who can stay for an early dinner are urged to do so.

Sometime during the weekend a special ceremony will take place at Baker Library when Jack Rose's entire collection of his old Jacket-O' Lantern covers and cartoons will be presented to the Library. An art gallery in La Jolla put on a one-man show in August of Jack's paintings and drawings from 1923 through 1932 called

"Artwork of the Twenties." Ken Montgomery '25 acquired all the Dartmouth items as a gift for the Library, with a string attached - that Jack had to fly east for the presentation and the weekend reunion of '25 and '28 at the Norwich Inn. More about this in our next column.

It looks like a big turn-out for the reunion. Two of our regular couples will not be there: Jerry and Rella Warner had scheduled an Africa safari for August but it was changed to October. Herb and Dottie Russell had sent in their deposit, but on August 19 Herb was taken ill and died five days later.

The Class Officers weekend (May 10-11) brought Haines, Hoagland, Kenerson, Lary, Schmelzer, George Davis and your secretary to Hanover.

Bill Lary, in his first year as class agent, did an excellent job. He and his team of assistants rounded up $45,678 from 281 contributors and are to be commended for their efforts.

Myles Lane, a member of the Alumni Council, attended the meetings in Hanover June 12-14. Myles is on the Committee on Bequest and Estate Planning and also on the Committee on Athletics. George Davis, a former president of the Council, also attended the meetings.

John Phillips sent us the July-August issue of the magazine of the National Football Foundation which carried two pictures of Judge Myles Lane, with other Hall of Famers at the reception for the new NFF president, Dick Kazmaier.

Mitch and Grace Mitchell rented a condominium at Quechee Lakes for the summer and raved about the golf, the mountains, clear cool air and good water. It was a welcome relief from Florida humidity, highly chlorinated water, and crowds. They may even sell their Florida home, move to Vermont, and go to Florida during the mud season (remember the duck boards across the campus). Their two sons and daughter visited them at Quechee with their families. Paul '69 came from Boulder, Colo., where he is in law school at the University of Colorado. Their daughter Margaret and family also came from Boulder, where Margaret's husband is chairman of the Philosophy Department at the University of Colorado. Son Davids family came up from New Jersey.

Barney Nova has moved from New York City to 4800 North 68 St., Scottsdale, Ariz. No answer yet to my letter about whether he has retired from the practice of law.

Attending the 50th reunion of the class of 1924 at Deerfield Academy were Cal Billings of Hartford, Conn., and Earl Fain, who divides his time between Yemassee, S.C., and Dallas, Texas.

The Alumni Gazette of the College of William and Mary devoted the front page of a recent issue to an interview with Jimmy Fowler who retired last June after serving the past ten years as Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. He had never worked anywhere else, coming there as an assistant professor of History after receiving his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard. We will turn the article over to Jack Herpel and Stew Hoagland in the hope that they can find room to quote parts of it in the '28 Campaigner like the fact that his History of Europe course became so popular that enrollment exceeded 500 students per semester. Our thanks to Lowell Haas '35 for sending us the article.

John McGuire of Wallingford, Conn., is executive director of the Housing Authority there.

Wayne Sturdevant has recently had a serious hip operation and it would be nice if you can find time to drop him a note. He is in a retirement home and his address is c/o The Manor, 265 Charlotte St., Ashville, N.C. 28801.

We recently had occasion to go to Buffalo and dropped in to see Sam Magavern at his law office. What a busy man - he had just returned from a three-day business trip to London. He introduced us to one of his sons, Bill '56.
