Some impressive appointments for our classmates to start this first column, of our second reunion year. Next June we'll convene in Hanover to celebrate, or just reflect upon, our 10th (yep, it'll really be only nine years.)
And during the intervening months we'll carry some news and information about old friends who you may see again next June.
Like Joseph Fellows, who has done his job so professionally at Holliston High School that he has been named "Guidance Counselor of the Year" by the Massachusetts School Counselors Association. Joe put the training and experience he gained in two Peace Corps years in Nepal, teaching at Mt. Hermon, and achieving a master's degree in counseling psychology from Stanford, into his guidance chores. Nancy and Joe live in Hopkinton.
Also in the Bay State, Scott Cheyne has been appointed chief secretary to Donald R. Dwight, lieutenant governor. Scott, who has served as Mr. Dwight's press secretary for two years, is now the lieutenant governor's senior aide and is responsible for coordination of his staff. Scott, Caryl, and one daughter live in Peabody.
Gary Bryson is now a vice president, product management and planning, consumer products division of Bell & Howell Company. That means he's responsible for pulling all the planning together on Bell & Howell's world-wide consumer product efforts. He's been with the company since 1967 and was most recently general manager for the direct mail marketing division.
Over in Utica Mayor Edward Hanna has called upon Jack Donovan to be assistant to the Mayor on all government affairs. Jack's graduate work at Harvard and Boston University in urban affairs and government should serve him well.
Tuxedo Memorial Hospital, Orange County, N.Y., has appointed Ned Northrup as chairman of the board of trustees. Ned has a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Virginia, served in the Army, and is currently an administrative officer with Brown Brothers, Harriman & Company, New York City.
It won't help you, but if any of your children, nieces, or young cousins feel a little under the weather next time you're passing through Lynn, Mass., go see Dr. Walter Harrison who, after Hahnemann Medical School and Navy service, has opened a pediatric practice. Walt, Linda, and their two children live in West Peabody.
Henry Art, an assistant professor of biology at Williams College, will be taking a special one-semester sabbatical this year.... CaptainJonathan Leach has been transferred with his tactical Air Command Unit to Howard Air Force Base, Canal Zone.... Navy CommanderDave Graves recently helped evacuate civilians from many countries from the island of Cyprus as a crewmember of the amphibious transport dock ship USS Treton.
For the following year both this monthly class column and the class newsletter will be coming from the same typewriter. We're anxious to hear from you so we can pass on your accomplishments and thoughts to our classmates. We've got plenty of paper.
And now the prediction you've been reading for. I see a 5-2 league record for the Indi - opps - Big Green, and a second place football finish. Plus a first division Ivy spot for the soccer team.
