Jupiter Pluvius was the only unwelcome guest in Hanover for the festive Penn game weekend. He arrived early Saturday morning and pelted the campus all day. But Jupiter did not prevent Dartmouth from winning its 100th Ivy League football game, defeating Penn 19-14 and thereby breaking the deadlock of 20 victories, 20 losses and two ties with the Quakers. It was a joyful day in every respect despite the rain.

Through befogged bifocals the count of the '22 family in Hanover seemed to total 56. Friday night some enjoyed the buffet at the Norwich Inn while others had the pleasure of the Hanover Inn. Saturday morning 49 attended the congenial '22 pre-game luncheon in the Drake Room, the last time we were externally dry for the afternoon. Saturday evening 19 were at the delectable dinner in 1922's private dining room at the Hanover Inn. Altogether it was a grand weekend, particularly because of the victory. Winning is so much better than losing.

These excellent gatherings of the clan are not occasions of happenstance. The accommodations at Howard Johnson's, the Drake Room luncheon and the Inn Dinner are all due to Ike Miller whose dedication to the Class makes these happy convocations possible. SteveKenyon in his inimitable newsletter will have full details as to all present.

At Saturday's luncheon it was especially pleasing to have some of our most loyal '22 ladies such as Allie Hoyt, Betty Mann and Louise Olsen. And "getting to know you" was a delight for the Class with Helen Kilmarx and continues similarly with Margaret Hopkins and Margaret Taylor. Twenty-Two loves all its girls.

During the weekend Norm Crane, TonyHanlon, John McKoan, Don Tobin, and LenMorrissey made a telephone call to HarryBruckner at Newfield House, Plymouth, Mass. Harry's voice is strong and his courage indomitable. How we wished he could have been with us as he was on so many similar occasions.

President John G. Kemeny, our youngest '22 classmate, was the honored recipient of a doctor of science degree from the University of Pennsylvania at its Bicentennial Commencement exercises last spring. Similar honors had been previously bestowed upon him from Princeton, Columbia, Middlebury, and the University of New Hampshire. Congratulations, John, from the Dartmouth fellowship and especially from your '22 classmates.

Grace Clark, truly gracious as always and looking fine, was a most welcomed early October visitor to Hanover. Hopefully, Grace, this is the beginning of many more visits.

Mrs. N. Osborne Siegfried, the former Mary Nixon, is warmly welcomed into the class family. She and Ozzy were married May 8 in Florida. The Class hopes they will be with us at the Post-50th next June.

Larry Robinson has temporarily given up golf due to a broken left arm suffered at - of all places - Lebanon Airport. Expect you to be swinging again soon, Larry.

Oscar and Bea Rice celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 26. Their daughters Beatrice and Sylvia came from California to arrange the happy gathering. Congratulations from the Class to Oscar and Bea, their daughters, and their grandchildren.

Betty Horan, wife of our Frank, is now added to our list of Vassar girls in the '22 family. Catherine Miner tells us Betty and she were in the same class, '28. Maybe a daisy-chain quartet - the above two with Mary Daniell and HelenKilmarx - will sing some Vassar songs for us at our next reunion.

Dorothy Ball and Marjorie Smith went to Northampton last June to attend their 50th reunion at a college whose name escapes us, but many of us do remember Paradise Pond. Never can understand why girls from that renowned institution of higher learning are so reluctant to tell others about it. O.K., you other Smithies, and Wellesley hoop rollers, too, put a match to the fuse.

Our notes this month are deliberately tinged coed. Now that Maurice Chevalier is no longer here to sing "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" someone has to pick up the refrain. Besides, when Annapolis, the Air Force Academy and West Point go coed, one of them just might be willing to pay well for an allegedly mature male with the temerity to write about their little girls. Hope springs eternally.

And now, Merry Christmas to all.
