Fellow '73s
Thanks to a few hearty souls, and no snow-jobs, December's tidings will be short and sweet. Let me open in wishing Mike Neary beaucoup success as the Woodstock Inn's new director of sales. For the past year, Mike has been a sales representative for Four Seasons Hotels in San Francisco. And, as any green-blooded '73er knows, he spent two years as assistant manager of the Hanover Inn. In his new position, Mike will concentrate on group sales, an increasingly important market for the resort industry in recent years. A warm welcome to an old face from the Class of 1973.
After a few month's stint at the U.S. Public Health Service Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage on a surgery elective. PhilMaloney and wife Sue finally settled down in Providence, R.I. . . . not without a few salty tales, though. While visiting Bethel, Alaska, (on - you guessed it - the Bearing Sea in the middle of nowhere) seems Phil heard a "Vox Clamantis in Deserto" and sure enough in five minutes the every tenth-year meeting of the local alumni club was in session, among the likes of Russ Williams '72 and Ben Marchello '69. A passerby happened to catch the three of them in usual form, regurgitating those all too familiar words . . . "though 'round the girdled earth they roam, her spell on them still remains ..."
Ric Idler has one more year at U.C.L.A. general surgery, and it looks like he'll be coming back to native New England to do orthopedics in Boston.
Fritz Meyer's in Denver working for Bosworth Sullivan and Company, and taking to the high Sierras every now and then to spend some quiet moments backpacking and kayaking.
Whether you noticed it or not, due to a sudden business trip, the Cap'n was unable to attend the Class' first mini-reunion at the Dartmouth/Harvard Game a few weeks ago. Any pics, information, or general suggestions as to the feasibility of more reunions would be greatly appreciated. Preliminary reports have it that the afternoon's event was a smashing success.
Upcoming is the winter edition of the Newsletter with further information on class dues, etc. Please consider helping us out - if not monetarily, at least through personal participation. ticipation.
My warmest regards for a safe and harmonious holiday season . . .
