We have belatedly heard of the death of Kenny Langmuir which according to Moreau Brown happened last May. We have sent the condolences of the Class to his widow in California. Further disquieting news came to us through Cornie and Janet Miller who pass on the word that both Jane and Larry Vulte are down with malaria. We trust the publishing of this piece will find them back in good health. Larry is now retired as a Pan-Am pilot, we understand, and recuperation is taking place at their home in Florida.
From Shag Hatch, who spent such a long time teaching in balmy St. Thomas in the Virgin Isles, we have a post card reminding us that he now holds forth on the Crow reservation in the Montana wilderness. There he teaches the Indians their music.
Bob Cushman who has been reported in this column on varying occasions as the president of the Norton Company - which he is —, has just added another job to his busy life. He has just been appointed to the Tuck School Board of Overseers.
Al Gorman has moved to Albany, N.Y. Al's address has always been nearby Troy as far as we know. He is and has been connected with two companies - Gorman Brothers in Albany and the Cady Company in Amsterdam, N.Y.
George Neily, director of public relations for Deere & Company, in catching up with Cornie Miller's errant dues bills, writes that he spent Christmas in Burlington, Vt., as a guest of his oldest daughter Cynthia Hyde, her husband, and their two sons Steve and Timmy. Also on hand for the family gathering was, of course, George's pretty wife Ginny and their two other issue, Nancy and Tim. Just a year ago, George recounts a similar family gathering (without grandchildren) for ten days in the Bahamas on a chartered sloop. So agreeable was this trip that George plans another cruise over the Bicentennial Fourth off the coast of New England, which is very much his old sailing ground in those days gone by.
We had a nice long post-Christmas letter from the late Jim Fuller's wife Jane. She has left the family manse in South Salem, N.Y., and moved up within spitting distance of two of their offspring in Rockport, Me., to "start anew." She reports that things are agreeable - though cold - and she is looking forward to the good Maine life. Her son Spencer graduated with honors from Colorado State, and now operates "Fox Island Fisheries" which he established on Vinal Haven Island, 14 miles off the barren coast. His game is raising Coho Salmon, some 120,000 of them grown in pens that he designed in the open waters of Penobscot Bay. Now he is moving on to putting out some 80,000 rainbow trout this April. Daughter Nina, now Mrs. Donald Carter, lives outside Portland with her lawyer husband... Nina keeps busy with a column in the local press, and by contributing photography.
