R. Nelson Jones, manager of the Springfield branch office of Connecticut General Life Insurance Company, has been appointed vice president, in charge of the company's national branch sales organization. Nels began his career in 1955 at the Hartford branch office, where he was advanced to assistant manager in 1962. He served as manager of the Oakland, Calif., branch office for four years prior to assuming his Springfield post in 1968. Under his direction, the local office earned CG's "Outstanding Agency Award" for five con- secutive years, 1969-1973. This is the highest annual honor the company presents to field offices in the individual insurance operations. In 1975 the Springfield branch broke all previous existing records and ended up as the #2 agency in the country.

Nels took over his new assignment at Connecticut General's home office in Bloomfield, Conn., in February.
