This has been a very meager month in terms of news items. Tom Wittenberg was appointed Editor-in-Chief, College Division of the Bobbs-Merrill Co. of Indianapolis. Tom will direct the editorial activities of the division which publishes Odyssey Press and Pegasus as well as other humanities and social science textbooks.
As the new chairman of the department of English at Maine's Colby College, DougArchibald will be heading Down East from Cornell where he has taught at undergraduate and graduate levels since 1964. In addition to being chairman, Doug will teach courses in modern poetry and participate in the freshman program. He is the author of a book to be published this summer on John Butler Yeats. The move to Colby is no doubt approved by father H. Douglas Archibald '25, a resident of China, Me.
This afternoon Margie and I played tennis with Joe and Kent Mathewson. Kent is a member of the tennis team at New Trier East High School. Joe and I were lamenting the lack of class news during April. He often had difficulty finding items for the June issue which made me feel much better.
By the time you receive this the 1973 alumni fund drive will be almost over. If you haven't sent your gift to Hanover please resolve to do so the moment you lay this Magazine down. Respond generously; the cause is good and the need great. If you have sent it in we thank you for your promptness and generosity.
