The football season always gives Amy and me a chance to see old friends. This year was no different. A dreary, threatening Saturday took us to the Yale Bowl to a very exciting game that saw Dartmouth win 3 to 0. Had a chance to visit with Loye Miller. You will recall that Loye has recently gained notoriety by blowing the whistle on Jody Powell, President Carter’s press secretary. Powell planted a story with Loye Washington correspondent for the Chicago SunTimes about Senator Percy. Finding the story to be without any basis in fact, Loye so reported. Also .present at Yale were BobHopkins and Hank Saunders with their wives. Both of these classmates have recently em- barked on new careers. More about that when they fill me in on the details. Also seen were Chuck Eccles, Ed Weisenfeld and, last but not least, Russ Dilks, who rode up with us and supplied the vintage wine that made the day brighter.
Two weeks later we journeyed to Hanover and partook in the Dartmouth Night torchlight parade, a rather recent innovation that has the alumni march around the campus by class, end- ing up in front of Dartmouth Hall. Our Class had a good turnout, with Sam Roberts doing the organizational chores. Prexy Buck Scott was leading the troops including Sandy McCulloch,Jim Keegan, Dave Saxton, Bob Hopkins, TomTrolle, Charlie Breed, and Chet Cotter. The Glee Club was in fine voice, the speeches were thankfully short, and the Class of ’Bl built a magnificent bonfire. Incidentally, the freshman class has a tremendous spirit and this bodes well for the future.

Curley DeGroff has never left his home town of Amsterdam, N.Y., where he pur- sues the trade of cabinetmaking. Thanks, Ralph, for all the news. Let the rest of you take note.

A group of St. Paul investors, headed by Hart president Jim Bjork, has bought the Hart Ski Cos., a division of the Beatrice Food Cos. Aside from Jim, who will continue as Hart president, the investment group includes Bankers Mortgage Corp., a St. Paul-based mortgage banking and real estate development company, and Walter L. Bush Jr., an attorney and chair- man of the board of the Minnesota North Stars, a National Hockey League club. According to Jim, no changes in current management are planned, “We successfully introduced a brand new look in our skis at the recent Las Vegas trade show and the response, in terms of both domestic and international sales, has been ex- cellent. With local ownership and control. Hart will now be in a position to be more responsive to the unique needs of the ski retailers and the skiing public." And we all thought you were a hockey player!
