Bill Andres has completed his term as chairman of the Dartmouth College Board of Trustees. We are grateful to him for his outstanding service to the College during a difficult transition period.

Bob Carr has written another book (with Daniel Eyke), Collective Bargaining Comes tothe Campus, published by the American Council on Education. A favorable book review in the American Political Science Review starts off:

"With a title reminiscent of Mr. Smith Goesto Washington, Collective Bargaining Comes tothe Campus might be peremptorily adjudged 'simplistic'. . . . That would be a mistake, for the book treats authoritatively a subject of vital academic interest."

Duke Barto, in addition to serving as our class president, has been active in the Dartmouth Club of Washington for many years. He was president at one time and now serves as treasurer.

More of your notes to Jack Hubbard:

Earl Liberty: "I retired, for the time being at least, on a permanent basis last July 1 from the City of Clemson, S.C. So far I've found enough to do to keep pleasantly busy. We've had three snowstorms this winter, but four inches is the limit and it was gone within a few days. But the cold weather is something else!"

Joe O'Leary: "Still working full days, five days a week, about twelve hours a day from my door in the morning till I return at night. And I'm still trying to assemble records and decipher regulations for income tax. However. I'm still ahead and happy - Peggy and I are both in generally good health."

Bud Terrio: "With Olie Holmes' passing, the Class of '29 lost a great Dartmouth booster. Olie was not only a classmate but a great personal friend of mine. We were friendly enemies in high school days and close friends from then on. 'A great guy.' I'm out of semi-retirement and back working around the clock, six days. The reason - the younger generation could not handle my particular job as well, so my boss says! My children. Deb and Bud, have raised five kids and five college graduates."

Gene Davis: "Had a savage interlude last year, up at Massachusetts General with hypertension, and am in the office part time. Can play golf again, but not in the mood yet."

And from Rhea M. Ross: "Our son James Ross III and daughter Nancy join me in thanking you and the Class of 1929 for the contribution in Jim's memory. He carried his nickname of Pinky through the years but in business was always known as Jim."

Bob and Alice Monahan completed a spring tour to the Pacific Northwest and then came down this way to visit their daughter Linda in Maryland. While here they lunched with the Bartos and me. Bob attended a press conference at the Conservation Foundation, where he set the record straight on the need for multiple use instead of merely preservation of our national forest lands.

All best wishes for a pleasant summer!
