February was a busy month as Eddie Chamberlain '36 spoke to a special dinner at which over 50 people enjoyed hearing his thoughts about the difficult problem of admissions to Dartmouth. Selecting a class of 1,000 from 8,000 applicants is no cinch. Hank Maxwell '41 put a suggestion in the box that we have a luncheon on the east side of Southern California and immediately found himself in charge of same, which he and Nick Sandoe '45 engineered successfully in Claremont. Guest speaker that day was Bill Davenport '29, whose humorous comments on the poor old English language were appreciated by almost everyone present.

By way of trying something different. BillFarley '31 worked with Maxine Orosz, wife of Don Orosz '65, to arrange an evening at the Hollywood Squares TV program. It was different, all right, as some 75 alumni and friends bought tickets in support of the DCSC Scholarship Fund and raised about $350.

Our annual day at the races was the biggest yet, with a sellout crowd of 100 alumni, families, and friends again supporting the Scholarship Fund and enjoying a pleasant day at Santa Anita racetrack. For our annual dinner in April we invited Dartmouth Secretary J. Michael McGean '40 to talk with us, and Mike was good enough to spend some time talking with high school applicants trying to decide whether or not Dartmouth is for them.

Our regular June luncheon, on June 24, will be held as usual at Taix Restaurant and will have as a special guest Bob MacLeod 39, publisher of Teen Magazine and recently elected member of Football's Hall of Fame. And of course we are continuing the tradition of the July 4 fireworks and concert evening at Hollywood Bowl.
