45TH REUNION - JUNE 11-13, 1979

We're in the homestretch and from all indications it looks like a great reunion!

This is my last opportunity to urge those of you who haven't already signed up or are still undecided to join approximately 200 of your classmates, wives, widows, and guests in Hanover at our 45th reunion. There is still time to send your advance deposit of $25 per person (toward your class reunion charge of $75 per person) to the reunion treasurer, Mel Katz, P.O. Box 433, Quechee, Vt. 05059 (checks payable to Dartmouth '33's 45th Reunion). Dormitory applications for Massachusetts Row must be received by the manager of student housing in Hanover by May 25. The rate is $10 per adult and $8 per child under 18 per night, payable to the College.

If you have any questions, either call or write John Rockwell, reunion chair, at 4 Downing Road, Hanover. John and his committee have planned a great program and have provided superbly for our comfort and pleasure. You won't have another chance until 1983, so don't miss it. We're looking forward to seeing you and yours!

The Alumni Fund continues to be the most important source of unrestricted support for the College, and reunion giving is an increasing share of the Alumni Fund total. In 1978 12 reunion classes contributed just over $2,000,000 out of a grand total of $5,317,218, or 38 per cent.

We have the challenging 45th reunion objective of $250,000, which offers a special opportunity for all '33ers to consider increases in Alumni Fund giving of approximately four times normal giving for this year, and all pledges and gifts to reunion giving receive full credit to the five-year Campaign for Dartmouth. Remember, too, that we need to make our contributions not later than June 8, rather than at the normal June 30 closing date, so that we can celebrate a record-breaking 45th reunion gift to the College at our class dinner on June 12.

Incidentally, Mannie Sprague, our head agent, has reported having lunch in San Francisco with Bob Allen, Bud Madden, PayneKnickerbocker, and Chan Sprague, as well as lunch with Bob Guggenheim and Stu Durkee at Newport Beach, Calif. "All seem to be well and in good spirits."

As an addendum to the 1933 obituary for Drew Dudley, published in the April issue, the Dudley family is planning a memorial service to be held in Hanover in May, and memorial contributions may be sent to The Hopkins Center for the Performing Arts. This is in special recognition of Drew's long-established interest in Hopkins Center and his recognized personal efforts in support of the great and growing role of the center in the life of the College and the community.

New addresses for class members and widows, as reported by the Alumni Records Office, are: John Bowman, 2052 Sunset Drive, Bradenton, Fla. 33507; Pierre Grace, P.O. Box 42, Arcadia, Mo. 63621; Fred W. Janvrin, 392- A Gwen Lake Blvd., Lake City, Fla. 32055; Kent Rhodes, Magazine Publishers Association, Inc., 575 Lexington Ave., New York, N.Y. 10022; Justin A. Effective June 1, 1979, my mailing address will again be Box 302, Norwich, Vt. 05055, until our 45th reunion, when my successor as class secretary will be elected.
