Summer's here - I'm beginning to sweat so on with the news, so I can jump in the pool and get wet. David Hope has become a member of the law firm of Schnader, Harrison, Segal, and Lewis, which has offices in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Anyone interested in what has happened to Black Whit Gait? No? O.K. Let's hear about Francis Montgomery. He works for Manufacturer's Hanover Trust in NYC and actually has passed on info regarding the legendary Whit Gait. Whit is an account executive with the TV media agency firm of Harrington, Writer and Parsons. He is newly single and is planning on summering in the Hampton's on Long Island. He was seen "modeling" a beach towel in a major magazine and fortunately all you can see of Whit is his forehead and fingertips.
Joseph Rob writes from Montpelier, Vt., that all is well and sends regards to all. TonyThompson also writes from Vermont (Stowe) that he has "settled back in Stowe after those outstanding six years in Sydney, Australia. Have a small farm where wife Elizabeth raises sheep, pigs, chickens, vegies, and children (Abby, girl, six and Sandy, boy, four) and I raise local oil prices. I chaired the recent (last summer) tennis tourney in Stowe which Jimmy Connors won. Any itinerent '64s should call when in the area." Roger Simon relates that "the screen version of my novel The Big Fly appeared in October starring Richard Dreyfus. I wrote the screenplay. New novel, PekingDuck, to be published by Simon and Schuster in June. Presently working on screenplay of Family Dream for Universal, which I am to direct starring Richard Pryor."
Karl Winkler writes that "after a long association and partnership with a local law firm, I have decided to open my own law office, It will be at 1334 East State Street in Rockford, beginning the first of the year. I have conducted applicant interviews for Dartmouth the last three years and they (especially the women) are so well qualified that I would hate to be in competition with them today."
Finally, Whit Foster gives us an update: "Spent a most interesting 26th of February at the invitation of the College talking to various groups of Dartmouth students about a possible internship/career with the United Nations, and participating on a panel dealing with second/third languages and a career. Most impressed by those students I was able to spend some time with. Jim Cornehlson joined the panel, driving up through rain and snow from his CBS international publishing job. Nice to see him — looking and sounding well. Was in Egypt and Tunisia in December and Bankok in January. I'm off to the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen Monday night for two weeks of work if troubles there allow."
Bye for now and have a good summer; shall resume all the news in the fall.
