Greetings, classmates. Your secretary has embarked on an ambitious program to get more material for this column. Every month I will be sending out postcard questionnaires to about 40 of you guys. Lord knows when you will receive yours, but when you do jot down a little "bull" about yourself, even if you have to lie. Incidentally on the cards I already sent out, more wives responded than husbands so where you guys may be bashful, please, wives, let me know what the old man is doing. (Thanks, Judy, for your understanding, your story next month). The name of my investigation organization is the Dartmouth "TH.IN.G." with an appropriate coat of arms on the postcard. Anyone guessing what the "TH.IN.G." stands for (clue provided by coat of arms) will receive a $50 gift certificate for all lubricated items purchased at Edith's Cut Rate. Now for the news:
I. Possible Hall of Fame: Lee Chilcote was one of ten nominees by the Cleveland Jaycees for its Distinguished Service Award as the groups' outstanding young Greater Cleveland Citizen for 1975. (Lee, please get your suit pressed, it could mean the difference). Selection of the candidates was conducted the past three months by a Jaycee committee. They convassed churches, businesses, clubs, and various organizations (massage parlors?) to determine which citizen between 18 and 35 had contributed most to the community in 1975. Lee is a lawyer with the firm of Thompson, Hine, and Flory, and a Cleveland Heights councilman. To paraphase the Cleveland Jaycee president, each candidate evidenced great leadership ability in their community, profession, business and fellow man. We all remember Lee's leadership abilities to his fellow man at Dartmouth when he would lead Mo to the bar when he was delivering a keg to the Kappa Sig house, or his leading women to the bathroom on big weekends. Its about time this leadership ability is recognized. Unfortunately, I do not know if Lee received the award. Hopefully, I'll know next month and possibly I can induct him in my Hall of Fame along with the King of the World.
II. General Babbling: Whit Foster sent a brief note form Tunisia (that's a good place for him) He has a son Chris (5½), daughter Sasha (3)and wife Beverly (30 approx), who is a translator of texts into four languages. Sends his regards to all. His address is PNUD, BP863, Tunis Tunisia. All you '64s in the area drop by and see him. Alan Nadel moved to Memphis, Tenn., in January. He is going into private practice of neurology. (The brain, stupid). To quote Alan "We are still a family of three: my son Craig (6½), wife Zoey, and me. (I count you ½ Alan to make a family of 2½). Also have 2 dogs! Our home is open to any one passing through, or trying to cross the Mississippi." You heard the invitation classmates. Alan is particularly in. terested in seeing you 64's with a brain. That leaves me out. A memo from Garth Gregory who is at the Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, Wash. After three years in Berlin, he returned to Tacoma for a year before getting out of the army. He is anxious to socialize with 64's in the Seattle area. John Boynton Jr. is now living in Maine. Address is: 224 Falmouth Rd, Falmouth Maine 04105.
HI. Class Smut: Stuart Brown's previous address was Center of Disease Control, V.D. Control Branch, Atlanta, Ga. Naturally seeing this address on my list, I became alarmed about Stuart's health so I wrote him a letter wishing him a speedy recovery and that it was unfortunate he caught such a "bad cold." Much to my surprise, and you all can relax now, Stuart is a doctor at this health center. Stuart learned about V.D. while in Bangkok, Thailand (what better place and so appropriately named) while he was in the army. He went on for further training in V.D. in England. He is now with the U.S. Public Health Service at the National V.D Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Everyone remember to wash your hands after you shake Stuarts hand next time you see him or to be really safe, just wave at him. Stuart, I'll bet you wish you win the gift certificate at Edith's Cut Rate. Bye.
