The Alumni Fund drive started on April 1. Mannie Sprague is looking for a total of $75,000 from '33 this year. He has selected 63 assistant class agents to help him in the campaign. You are undoubtedly going to receive a lot of literature from the College and your assistant agent. Mannie urges you to think before you give, and then give;

In line with that, Lup White has been in touch with me, asking if I would also help in the drive. Lup was so sugary that I couldn't say no, but, as a quid pro quo, asked him to get me 300 words from his wife Jean on "Life with Lup." (Your secretary has to do something to fill the allotted space, and I thought 300 words would cover it in Lup's case and would be pure, or even white as the driven snow, for this family magazine.) Lup wouldn't let Jean do it. He said, "As you know, 'Life with Lup' has to be a beautiful experience. Our youngest son, Peter, Bowdoin '75, is marrying Elizabeth Ost, Wellesley '77, on April 9." Peter works in New Hampshire. Lup and Jean have property at Eastman in Grantham, N.H. Lup still works as a class agent for that small, lovable college, also in New Hampshire. The ties are still there.

Both Dick Graves and George Waters helped me on the obituary for William L. King, which will appear in this or the next issue. Dick is now recovering from an operation in which a surgeon installed three heart by-passes and also corrected a collapsed lung. He says he is making visible improvement every day and, most importantly, adding much-needed weight.

Our president, N. Page Worthington, has been sunning and golfing on Hilton Head, S.C., for a month or so. While there, Page and Marge visited the home of Hunter and Marjorie Hicks and had a little golf with them. Hunter's game has fallen off just a little since he was varsity captain. Just a little.

At this writing, all of your officers are planning to attend class officers weekend in Hanover on May 2 and 3. It shows their dedication to your interests that they will be coming from as far as Florida and California to attend those business meetings. Of course, there will be a little fun on the side.

Jack Manchester will be there, but he has only a few blocks to walk. I am sure he would like to hear from you as to your ideas for a special gift to Dartmouth on our 50th. He's at 3 Dana Road, Hanover. Of course, Bob Fox and I will be pleased to pass along any of your suggestions or complaints to the appropriate officer or department.

As a class secretary located in the East, I find myself writing too much about Easterners. Cannot you Westerners drop me a line? If nothing else, tell me how you are making out with earthquakes, floods, mud-slides, and now volcanoes. Blessings.
