Another fall class mini-reunion is already a pleasant memory one which brought ever closer more than 50 '43 families. Eddie O's "Sweet Refrain" will give you a full report, perhaps with photos to accompany his colorful words. A few random citations: best-represented athletic team lacrosse, with Fritz Geller,Bill Porter, Bodie Mosenthal, and their manager, Bob Clark; best-represented civic responsibility mayor, as exemplified by Mayor Martin Borofsky of Claremont and exMayor Bob Clark (there he is again) of Keene.
For our report, we'll concentrate on the stories of three classmates with whom we became much better acquainted at the reunion JimHooker, Don McCorkindale, and JohnnyKoslowski.
Jim and Lois Hooker, in Pittsburgh, called Bob and Marie Andree in Ithaca (Jim and Bob were freshman roommates) and said, "Isn't it about time we got together and went back to Hanover?" And so they did. Jim is proud of his 25-year career with Procter and Gamble as a district manager. In varying responsibilities, Jim has spent his P&G career entirely in Pittsburgh, something of a record in this world of corporate relocation. The Hookers own a home in Chalk Hill, Pa., which Lois designed and made sure it was constructed according to plan. Daughter Barbara is married to an interior designer, has two children, and is living in Pittsburgh. Daughter Debbie is also married, lives in Washington, D.C., and teaches exceptional children. Daughter Lynn works in Pittsburgh.
Don McCorkindale is president of the Chase and Cooledge Company in Holyoke "power transmission, industrial supplies, and material handling equipment since 1878." Don and Marie have two children son David, who works for Kaman Bearing in Warwick, R.I., is married, and has a daughter; and daughter Rosamond, who majored in art at Green Mountain College. Don's wife Louise is earnestly engaged with the Holyoke Police Community Relations Committee, working to bridge the gap between the Puerto Rican and the established elements in the locality. A recent city-wide Olympics did much to aid the cause.
The McCorkindales reported that BillMaeck has had an eventful family year, with the marriages of his daughter and his son. For details, we'll have to count on hearing from Bill.
Smiling John Koslowski told us that he and Stacey won the mixed club golf championship this year, thus repeating a victory they attained 12 years ago. John and several partners run Sports Management Systems in Winchester, Mass.-a company which includes a number of tennis/swim/health clubs and, among many other sports-related activities, provides synthetic turf fields throughout New England. The Winchester Indoor Lawn Tennis Center was host for five years to the women's national indoor championship tournaments. Daughter Judy is married, teaches school, and has a daughter. Son Tom, a graduate of Northeastern, is with the First National Bank in Boston, and son Jim '72 is an engineer in Cambridge.
And a few words from several who couldn't make the reunion:
Jim and Mary Donahue send word that they are grandparents for the first time: "Daughter Susan presented us with Sean Heyl Raser, so we may have a third generation at Dartmouth. We are really enjoying the leisure life at Rancho Bernardo but still miss those Dartmouth football games. Even the San Diego Chargers don't compensate for the Big Green."
Hud and Lois King, yielding for this year their life-of-the-party roles at our gathering, wrote that "we will be thinking of you all. Georgia is having a Dartmouth night, so we will be celebrating the weekend nearer home."
June 1983: 40th Reunion. Start planning now. More to the immediate point, a joyous holiday season to all!
