Time has a way of getting away from me in this season of the year. I'm writing this on a date in November which is well past the deadline for this column. I'm asking myself where October went, or whether perhaps it was dropped from the calendar this year.

All of which is by way of saying mea culpa for the dearth of news in this month's '67 column. I've had a full court schedule this fall and perhaps a few outside activities and interests too many.

I received a good, long note from Bruce Pacht recently. I'll quote at length, since there's no shortage of space:

"Carol had our third son, Asher Eli Walker Pacht, on May 16. I think I know what causes it now. Orin is nearly two and a half and Jesse is eleven and a half.

"I'm still executive director of the Upper Valley Development and Training Center, which provides programming for developmentally-disabled persons from birth to senior citizenship. We have about 100 clients and three sites including a group home in Hanover. Thirty-four employees to keep track of. I love it even though growth in federal support which has occurred during the last 20 yearsars is squeezing tighter.

"I'm .president of the Lebanon Rotary Club this year. Incredible. Never thought I'd remain a member but lots of young men have made our club fun. We raised and distributed $6,000 to various local charities last year. This year the goal is $7,500.

We still love living in .the Upper Valley. Through my work I contact many alums in the area. Larry Ufford is in Rotary and through his job at Trumbull-Nelson Construction Company of Hanover is doing renovations to the Upper Valley Development and Training Center's Lebanon site. His wife Shelley is our speech therapist. Lots of other alums of many classes are working in the local United Way campaign which provides the center with a portion of its operating funds each year. President McLaughlin is a strong United Way supporter and promises to increase the College's participation, which is already terrific, from faculty, staff, and, especially, students. Looking forward to reunion."

Dick and Karen Sellers had a baby boy, paul' Dudley Smith Sellers, last August 18. Nothing more for this month, I'm afraid. I'll try to get out another post-card mailing before the next deadline. If you happen to receive a card from me, please take a minute or two to communicate.
