There's a rumor up here that spring is just around the corner, but my skis remain in the ready position while the Burpee seeds are on hold. We continue to hold informal class meetings at Thompson Arena hockey games and those in regular attendance consist of the Allisons, Farleys, Fullers, Kirks, and WinshipsDuring the Christmas holidays Stan and Ricky Stambaugh stayed at the Hanover Inn with their family party of 16, which made for a very, very merry as Santa was successful in getting down the chute. A chatty letter from Moe Clarke, who continues his printing business in Northbrook, 111., but took some time off so he and Janie could play tennis and dine with Mary and Bud Whisler in San Rafael, Calif. The Clarkes are fortunate in that two married daughters live nearby and son Rick '74 is an architect in New York "living on orange crates in a Soho loft.
Senor Luis Zalamea of Luis Zalamea & Associates "International Travel Public Relations and Marketing Counsellors" of Miami brings us up to date. His consulting business continues to prosper but he is really gung-ho about his literary career as he is currently food critic for Miami Mensual, the first slick "city" magazine in Spanish to be published in the U.S. Luis, dear Luis, where were you when Dick King and I needed you so badly in Spanish I? Dave Sills has given up a Westchester home-life after 21 years and moved to Rowayton, Conn., although he continues his work in New York City. A communique from the College lists those few who were honored by receiving 1980 Alumni Fund Awards and, of course, we have a winner. There were only four Green Derby winners, and our own Bill Enos was one of that select group! Some kind soul sent me two clippings from the Kentucky Post and I feel safe in reporting that Bud Pogue is one busy fellow. He is currently president of the National Association of State Boards of Education as well as in his third term as chairman of the Kentucky Board of Education. When Bud is not in the education business, he devotes his time and talents to Pogue and Associates, a real estate firm specializing in commercial and residential development, counseling, and appraising. He was recently presented with the Distinguished Service Award of the National Association.of Realtors for "exceptionally meritorious service" to his profession and the public. The award is the first of its kind, the highest honor of the Association, and was presented to only eight other realtors from across the country. A well-done to Bud!
Now for a personal note regarding the Kirk's recent career in show business. Mary and I were picked to be extras in a feature flick that was being made in Woodstock, Vt., and it was a one-day gas. We were at the Woodstock Inn at 6:30 A.M. for wardrobe and makeup, then it was a familiar military role of hurry-up and wait. If I make the cut, you will see my shoulders and bald spot as Mary and I walk down a church aisle while attending a funeral. The title is Ghost Story and the other stars are Fred Ast.aire, Melvyn Douglas, Douglas Fairbanks jr., John Hausman, and Patricia Neal. After that brief experience, I now know the difference: If you buy a ticket it's a movie, while if you're in it it's a film! That's it for this month, so let's hear what's going on in your life.
