Following is an excerpt from Bruce Eaken's letter describing the two weeks he and his wife and his father (Bruce Eaken Sr. '26) and mother spent this past August in Hanover studying the Renaissance at Alumni College: "I'm not sure fellow '60s fully understand the unique opportunity that Alumni College presents for graduates to enjoy both a provocative and a relaxing vacation at quite reasonable rates. After enrolling we were assigned a reading list last winter of various books on the subject of the Renaissance. We checked into our room (with shower and maid service!) at 404 Mass and then had the first of many excellent meals at Thayer (no mystery meat). A staff of four professors from the disciplines of art, history, English, and comparative literature had prepared a series of lectures. The presentations were thoughtful, scholarly, and informative. It was nice to deal with them on a peer basis. After a coffee break at the Top of the Hop we broke up into small discussion groups, each with a professor or instructor to analyze the varying aspects of the subject. We were then free in the afternoon to shop, nap, play golf or tennis, swim, canoe, or take various optional lectures. Cocktails at 6:00 were followed by dinner and in the evening a concert, Softball game, play, film, or just a quiet walk around the Green." Sounds perfect!

Also in attendance at the same session with Bruce were several other members of the class Robert Brusic and his wife Lucy, up from New Haven, Conn., where Bob is a Lutheran minister, and Neil Korman and his wife Dorothy, up from Miami, where he is an ophthalmologist and shares professional offices with his wife, who is also an M.D. with a dermatology practice.

Murray Janus, who practices law in Richmond, Va., has recently retired as president of the Richmond Bar Association and of the National Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He now has lots of spare time and will be looking around for some new causes. Murray also recently saw Art Seessel, who lives in Memphis and runs a family chain of supermarkets. Art has a growing family including a son who will be going to college next year.

Peter Schwartz, practicing law in Hartford, Conn., was recently named presidentelect of the Dartmouth Alumni Council, which means he will step up to president in a year (this coming June). This is very exciting not only for Peter, but for all of us as we go into our 25 th reunion year. To have major representation on this important College body is certainly a signal honor. As an added bonus, Peter will have an increased opportunity to see daughter Bonnie, class of '85.

John Walker, a professor at Fullerton College in California, is also involved in the Alumni Council, chairing the committee on regional organizations. That committee is concerned with the development of activities of the 155 Dartmouth clubs throughout the world. He is also a member of the executive committee of the Alumni Council.

I ran into Alex and Sally Summer at a recent dinner given by Howard Gilman '44 for the members of the board of overseers of the Hopkins Center-Hood Museum of Art. Alex continues to very successfully develop commercial properties, mainly in New Jersey and Texas.

Once again I close this column with a request for news... let's hear from some of you who haven't been in touch for a while.
