A long article in the New York Times tells about Eleanor McCrea and her Stony Hill Vineyard. It says, "Eleanor presides over one of the most extraordinary wine ventures in the nation." The vineyard is in Napa Valley, California, and was first started as Fred was about to retire from the advertising business. Since he passed on Eleanor has run it. The production is sold by direct mail and you have to stand in line to get on the mailing list. So many people want the wine it is a real problem to allocate it.

The San Treats are at their new home in Bedford, Mass. I talked to them on the telephone. They said they were going away for the winter as San said he did not think he could take the cold weather. They spent the summer in Rockport, Mass., where San kept busy painting.

Stu Russell is recuperating from his hip operation and spent several weeks on Cape Cod during October.

Notice has come through of the deaths of two of our widows. Mrs. Ken Johnson and Mrs. Robert Jackson have passed on. We shall miss them.

And, finally, I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
