There is a variety of news this month two births, an engagement, a commencement, and lots of promotions. I had a fine note from Fran Gedney and Mark Arnold filling me in on some details as to the birth of their son, Brian Scott Arnold, who arrived on September 14. The six-pound, 11-ounce gentleman had his picture taken at the age of two days by Earl ZubkofF. Earl had brought along a 3-D camera and got some good family portraits. Fran also provided news as to the birth of Bob and Joelle Rudney's daughter. We think that Camille Miriam arrived on October 30, but we're not quite sure because of the time differences. The Rudneys are currently living in France.

Since this summer, Skip Sturman has been serving as director of career and employment services at Dartmouth. Skip, who previously was associate director, succeeded Britta McNemar, who resigned to become assistant director of college counseling at Phillips Andover, and her husband, whom many of you will remember as a professor of government, was named the headmaster of that historic academy. Skip is now responsible for coordinating all the career counseling services at Dartmouth, including the undergraduate career planning program, on-campus and ofF-campus leave term jobs and internships, post-graduate employment, and graduate education testing and scholarship advising.
Skip has also been very active in College activities outside his job. He has had the fun of serving as a freshman advisor, and a freshman trip leader, and he was advisor to Alpha Chi Alpha fraternity. Recently, he was named to the Child Care Advisory Council. On the community level, he served as president of the Improvement Society'of Thetford Hill, Vt., where he, his wife Marilyn, who is assistant director of student housing, and their son Jed are currently living.
We now have a regional vice president in the Connecticut General Life Insurance Company's claim department in its group insurance division. The v. p., Chip Sharkey, joined Connecticut General in 1970 and has held a variety of positions, each leading to yet another promotion. He has worked in the group insurance division since 1981 and is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries. Connecticut General, as many of you may know, is a leading insurance and financial services company and part of the CIGNA Corporation formed through the merger of Connecticut General and INA.
On the education front, Tom Charles received his master's of business administration from the College of Business and Economics of the University of Delaware.
I have also had word of the engagement of Wendy Box to our classmate, J. Dix Druce. Wendy is a graduate of Steve F. Austin State University in Texas and is circulation director of Southwest Media Inc., magazine publishers. Our classmate is no less than the president of the Charter Insurance Group. I hope to have more details about the wedding, which was scheduled to have already taken place by the time this column appears in print.
I hope that all will have a joyous holiday season and that the new year will be a good one for all. While you are making your New Year's resolutions, how about writing in and sharing some news with those who care about how you are and what you are doing these days.
