John Bacon was recently appointed principal of the elementary school in Bethel, N.H. A native of Concord, Mass., John received a doctorate in education, with a specialty in reading, at the University of Massachusetts. John first taught at Lebanon, N.H., Junior High School and later served as federal programs coordinator in the Orange-Windsor supervisory district. Before joining the Bethel school system, he served as assistant principal of the two elementary schools in Weathersfield, Vt. John lives with his wife Mary and six-month-old son Alexander in Etna. Mary teaches horsemanship at Dartmouth. Together the couple is training a six-month-old thoroughbred.
