I hope 1982 finds you healthy. As we all know, the "wealthy" part of the traditional greeting has been assured by our esteemed leader, and the "wise" part is probably more boring than it is worth.
The mail has brought forth a veritable flood of news about various members of bur illustrious class. I sat next to Dave Goehring and his charming wife at Dartmouth Night in January; Dave is national sales manager for Simon and Schuster in New York. Doug Ward wrote to say that he has graduated from med school and is Practicing internal medicine at New York Hospital. He was curious to know if anyone else "ad been quite as deliberate in finishing graduate school; if any of you are still lolling in the luxury that is known as graduate school, please write so Doug can know that you are out there. Paul Lausell, having experienced all the delights of New England winters, both rural and urban, has returned to Puerto Rico, where he is a stockbroker with Kidder, Peabody and Company. After receiving his M.B.A. from Harvard, of all places, Paul managed a store, sold windows, ran a hardware store, and wound up in the sun. He and Yvonne, in between all the entrepreneurial activity, have managed to get eight-year-old son Jean-Paul to play the piano, six-year-old Patrick to play the violin, and oneyear-old lan to sleep all night. Paul also invites anyone who happens to find themselves in Puerto Rico to drop in. Wells Martin writes from Winston-Salem to announce that he has been appointed to the faculty of Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest. His primary research interest is rheumatology studies.
On a slightly different note, Eric Evans was in a six-member American Himalyan kayak descent team which made first descents of several rivers which drop over 100 feet per mile on their way to India. Sounds like the biggest challenge is to slow down before one gets to Bangkok.
On the social side, Shel Prentice has announced that we will have our for-real tenth reunion on the weekend of May 22. The only activity which has been definitely scheduled are some rehearsals for Fabian Ropogol's latest beer commercial. Fabian has written to say that he would like to put in some scenes of relaxed new achievers quaffing suds in a restrained and genteel manner, but he wants to have some practice first in order to weed out any fanatics who may have survived ten years of the real world.
Until next month
