The September issue of the "Sentry" used all the class news available, and therefore we have the space now to add a bit to the material presented in the obituary for John White, which appeared in the September ALUMNI MAGAZINE. "Sam" made quite a name for himself in World War II and in the development of Pan Am Airways in the North Pacific after retirement from the U.S. Navy and the Naval Reserve. The Bronze Star Medal presented to him was accompanied by a citation about his leadership and skillful direction of naval forces under most adverse conditions. Rear Admiral Ralph Wood also wrote this about Sam: "Captain White is being discharged to inactive duty upon 39 months in this area command. He was an outstanding oificer in operating the sea forces of the Frontier. He has worked hard and intelligently. He is the soul of honor and integrity and of inflexible character. I regret the loss of his services. He leaves with the respect and liking of everyone with whom he has come in contact."

We also shall miss this classmate very much, but we should be proud to know that he was one of us. A fond farewell, Sam!
