Doug Urban wed Kathryn Nelson on May 21 in Hillsborough, CA. Brother Roger Urban '65 was best man, and Doug's parents, Harriot and Joseph Urban '39, were in attendance. After a wedding trip to England and France, Doug and Kathryn returned to live in San Francisco. Kathryn was enrolled in Sotheby's Works of Art program in London and currently is employed by Sotheby's in San Francisco. Doug is a security analyst and partner in the firm of Dodge and Cox, investment managers, in San Francisco.
John Eaton and his wife Beth were at the wedding. They are the proud parents of a son Charlie, age two, and twins Matthew and Christopher, born March 23. John writes: "A wise man once said, 'Parents of three boys have a special place in heaven reserved for them.' After ten years of international project development, culminating with the Great Wall Hotel in Beijing (opening this year), I have changed careers. Last year I helped found the San Francisco Production Group. We create and produce video programs for industry and television. Beth is a psychologist in private practice."
Malcolm Jones wed Karen Roche on April 13 in Chicago. And belated word was received that Scott and Doreen Mitchell were wed February 18, 1982, in New Prague, MN. Scott writes: "I do believe that 1 have the record for a '71 with the most children. Doreen and I have five: Carlos, seven, Drew, five, Teddy, two, Lauren, one, and David, two months. This is not the first marriage for both of us but certainly the last. Our budget is $75 a month for diapers, $75 a month for milk, and $400 a month for food. I am employed by IBM as a manager of the Twin Cities. We wouldn't pay a nickel for another child or sell one for a million."
Doug Best wed Karen Rogers on April 23 in Englewood, CO. Karen, an alumna of Boston University, and Doug were graduated from the University of Denver School of Law. Doug is a partner in the law firm of Hansen and Breit in Denver and Karen is an attorney with Johnson, Mahoney and Scott, also in Denver.
Mitchel Wallerstein was recently appointed to the position of special assistant for policy and planning in the Office of International Affairs of the National' Academy of Sciences-National Research Council in Washington, DC, effective September 1.
Oliver Wallace was recently appointed to the post of assistant vice president and section manager, telecommunications, information services group, of Marine Midland Bank, N.A. He joined Marine Midland, located in Buffalo, NY, in 1973 as an analyst in the planning support services division. He lives in Hamburg, NY, and in his spare time is a member of the International Communications Association and the Professional Ski Instructors of America.
Steve Zrike was recently appointed marketing manager of Colgate Palmolive's subsidiary, Colgate-Palmolive Ltda. (Brasil), in Sao Paulo.
Bill Hoover writes that he has been ensconced in Denmark for the past four years paying high taxes and enjoying the welfare state. He was recently elected a principal in McKinsey & Company, where he has been for the past six years. His wife Ingrid of Copenhagen is practicing internal medicine. Along the way they managed two daughters, Anna (six months) and Julia (three and a half years), who now absorb most of their free time. "I do a lot of cooking, keep my golf scores below 80, and row far too little." The Hoovers make their home in Birkerød.
Finally, a correction: The Harriman family news reported in last May's class column was that of Lew and Cindy Harriman. As a result of a copy error, the news was attributed to the wrong Harriman. We regret the error.
