George Paine, sitting on top of Kansas salt mines and oil wells, celebrated his 89th birthday in April, with grandchildren coming from Illinois and Washington. He reported hearing from Les Leavitt, formerly of Beirut, who is in good shape, and from Dan Dinsmoor, who had a fall or two but who is up and walking around again. John Ames, of the military figure and vigor, still occupies himself with the affairs of the First Division.
Howard Buffinton, the only ' 16er to march in the 65th reunion procession, is still working on his stamp collection. Now, however, he concentrates on Britain and the British area rather than the entire stamp world.

Classmates ask, "How come, Jack, you do your typewriter-pounding away out in Colorado, 105 degrees west of Greenwich?"
Deponent answers that the scenery and the fly-fishing are attractive. Boulder is 30 miles east of the Continental Divide and one mile above high tide in Boston Harbor. The trout are getting smaller but the mountains are standing up well.
