Well, folks, it has been a about a year since we left the hills of New Hampshire and now we know that there is life after Dartmouth. This is my first column, and hopefully Judy Bell and I will be alternating all next year. It all depends on responses received this year.
Madeline Thomas is finishing her first year at Harvard Law School and Leslie Skinner is doing likewise at the University of Pennsylvania. Both Leslie and Madeline plan to take short but sunny vacations before starting their summer jobs. Pam Nolan is taking a vacation to Mexico before she starts law school in the fall at Notre Dame.
David Moore has received a promotion at Kaiser Aluminum and will assume his position as a sales representative in Northern Illinois. Tracy Glenn is in advertising in San Francisco with Foote, Cone, and Belding, and I believe she is working on a computer company account. She believes she has a new slogan and that soon everyone will be saying, "Where's the chip?"
Ralph Dorsey is in New Jersey working for a government agency and can'f figure out why he doesn't see more Dartmouth grads in his line of work. Cinda Stenger is also in New Jersey, working in Bamberger's management trainee program. Wijth a new car, she has been sighted in New York more-than once.
At last, we come to our bankers! CarlosCarrillo is with the American Express international banking division. Alan Bond is at Morgan Guaranty and was pictured in the company's 1983 annual report. He and SheilaSweeney will be featured in the society pages when they marry, reportedly soon. Sheila is finishing her first year at Columbia Med. KenJohnson is banking at Boston Safe Deposit and Trust and rooming with Mark HowardJohnson who works at the Shawmut Bank. (Note how Mark and Ken have managed to work themselves into their second column this year.) Mac Gardner and Greg Curhan are at Merrill Lynch with Sue Thornton, while Mark Trauner is a "huge executive" at Chemical Bank. Neil Donnenfeld and MarkFlessel are also in the financial banking world. Last, but certainly not leiast, KathyBowler does her time at the Bank of Boston. With such an extensive list of bankers and other corporate types in our class, Steve Jennings may be one of the few to say no to Paine Webber.
Since the letters from you wonderful '83s have been few this month, I guess I will tell you of my life as well. I am living in New York and working for Frederic W. Cook and Company. The firm basically consults corporations on the compensation of their executives. My apartment is about the size of a Choate closet single, but my rent equals a triple on the Gold Coast. I guess this is the Big Apple. (Crunch!)
Susan Grant is supposed to be in Berkeley studying architecture but reliable sources say she has just purchased a new motor bike and will be in New York on vacation soon. DaviesBeller, Bruce Seabrook, and Bill Cummings have been seen eating at quaint restaurants around the city, and Jessica Rosenberg has been observed shopping at avant-garde stores on the Lower West Side. (Don't worry, the store was not that weird I was there.) I see a lot of Dartmouth folks every day, and I must say it is nice to see familiar faces. I hope to see more of you soon. Remember to keep your cards and letters coming, or we may have to repeat this all next year. Until the fall Wilbert (a.k.a. Punch). (As in "Punch and Judy"?)
