Thanks to Skip Waterhouse for sending news and a photo from the 60th annual conference of the American Economic Development Council Meeting held in Boston June 9-12. Skip moderated and introduced Bob Reich as keynote speaker. Bob's talk, "Technology Trends and Their Application in the U.S. Industry' was the only AEDC talk to ever receive a standing ovation. Skip notes that the local bookstores immediately sold out of Bob's new book, New Deals: The Chrysler Revivaland the American System.

David Soren is building a reputation as a showman out of the University of Arizona where he heads the classics department. Dave's archaeological research on Cyprus led to the discovery of a preserved city which had been buried 1,600 years ago. This work led to the production of the award-winning documentary film Search for Apollo. In addition, Dave has brought a series of unorthodox visiting lecturers to campus. Lou Ayers, the actor, drew a crowd of 500 to a showing of two comparative religion films which Ayers had produced. Harry Lange, set designer for Star Wars, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and others lectured last spring, and Lange is joining Dave in designing a museum in Portugal.

Peter Lawson was named vice president and general attorney at Motorola. He lives in Deerfield, Ill., and is responsible for the corporate and Schaumberg international sections of the law department.
