As some of you may remember, Bruce Alpert wrote earlier that he and his wife, Nancy, were soon to go to China. A follow-up letter from Bruce indicates that they had a fantastic time. "Our trip to China was fascinating! We joined a group of pediatric cardiologists and cardiac surgeons and were given an inside look into the medical care system in There was some time for sightseeing and shopping, however." Bruce and Nancy are both associate professors of pediatrics at the University of Tennessee, where Bruce's research interests involve exercise physiology and Nancy's interests are in rehabilitation and electrophysiology.
Bruce adds that Mike Skaredoff has recently moved to Memphis and is an anesthesiologist. Beyond that, details are sketchy.
The governor of Oregon took time out of his busy schedule to drop me a note about a classmate. John Kitzhaber has been apponted to the advisory committee to the Governor's Council on Health, Fitness, and Sports. John has been an emergency room physician at Douglas Community Hospital in Roseburg since 1977. He was a member of the Oregon House of Representatives from 1978 to 1980 and has been a member of the Oregon Senate since 1980. He became president of the senate in 1985. John earned his medical degree at the University of Oregon Medical School.
If the governor of Oregon can write to me, so can you!
