Can this be the New Hampshire we know and love? It's mid-March as I write, and this morning it's 2 below zero. Sap has not been running enthusiastically yet, and we haven't seen the ground since Thanksgiving.
Last week the snow statues in Hanover still showed some form most of them goblins from the neck up, peering out of the ground snow.
We are ready for the duckboard season, which should be just around the corner.
The only familiar harbingers of spring are the notes from Jim Osbourne reminding us of the Alumni Fund drive. He has us in better position now than we were last year, and things look good. Do your part.
Dartmouth is so often in the news now and in so many different ways that it defys writing since things are so volatile they may be drastically changed by May when this is printed.
Somehow, there are things that seem not to change. We're planning for Class Officers Weekend, May 2-3, and it is during that time that several of us will be putting together plans for our 40th reunion, in 1987, June 7-10. Do you have plans to attend? Would you like to eat at a certain place or hear some stimulating discussions on a topic or two of your selection? That's my point. Our planning is supposed to be what you want to see or do, so let me know it now.
Joe Eisaman in Beverly Hills, Calif., writes of awaiting his first grandchild, due in May. Not to brag, but the Chases now have seven of these things; and our Suzie (D'80) expects twins in May.
The news bag did have some items this month, but of the type we don't need. Many will remember Bill Yakovac Dr. Bill; he passed away in February. JohnCrowe, in Long Beach, Calif., died December 24, 1985. We also heard from JoeFlounders that Mike DeSimone, who entered with us as a marine from the fleet, died in his sleep in February in New Jersey.
Please, send me something good we're not that old yet.
