The following item goes into the"I knew him when" category: The November 23, 1986, issue of the Marin (Calif.) Independent Journal carried the following opening paragraph in its feature story: "He looks like an ad for Dewar's Scotch tweeds and loafers; a handsome, open face; the relaxed aura of money and success. Even his name fits the image: AldisPerrin Butler jr." 1 was in San Francisco recently, and I can attest to the fact that in the Bay Area, everyone knows of Perry Butler and most people like to say they know him personally. For 18 years he has maintained the mos.t popular eating, and drinking establishments in San Francisco. Perry and Jo have three children Margie (six), Aldy (Aldis Perrin Butler, III), age three, and Sarah (one).
Recently the New York Times Book Review gave a very favorable review to TheStraight Man, a novel by Roger Simon. This is the fifth of the Moses Wine detective novels, the first of which was The BigFix, made into a movie starring Richard Dreyfus. The first four novels have been reissued by Warner Books in uniform paperback editions and are available in foreign translation in approximately 11 countries. Roger has also just completed a screen adaptation of Isaac Bashevis Singer's novel Enemies, A Love Story.
Chuck Pitman recently moved from Oman to Qatar to head up Amoco's oil exploration activities. Chuck and Twing say they have come to love deserts but try to make it back to Hanover whenever possible to spend time at their condo. Their son John graduated from The Gunnery in June and is now a freshman at Skidmore. Nigel (15) is an llth-grader at Phillips Exeter Academy.
Mark Roseman is practicing computer law in Hollywood, Fla., and has two sons, Seth Robert (13) and Nathan (9).
Dave Zeiger recently graduated law school and was admitted to the bar in Washington, D.C., and Maryland.
