Greetings from Atlanta! Once again, y'all are trying to hide from me so I had to turn to the telephone for news.Lisa Martin Tunnell was a local call, so I took the opportunity to catch up with my high school classmate. I was embarrassed to find out Lisa lives less than a mile from me. (Why should I be embarrassed? She should write me!) Lisa graduated from Virginia's Darden School of Business in 1983, and married Spencer Tunnell during Christmas break in 1982. Spencer and Lisa returned to Atlanta after her graduation. Lisa managed Atlanta's Academy Theatre, and Spencer developed his own landscaping business. Lisa has been slowed down by illness recently and has come to enjoy the life of a housewife. However, she is making plans to reenter the professional world, probably in health care management.

I could not find any more '78s home in Atlanta, so I had to resort to more expensive sources. Craig Douglass was at the office in California. He is vice president of Quintar, a high tech company purchased by Bell & Howell. Quintar makes computer graphics peripherals. He is enjoying California and continues to pursue his interest in sailing. He had a chance to crew the Spirit ofAmerica in the America's Cup but decided to remain gainfully employed instead. Craig is active in Dartmouth activities and heard President McLaughlin speak on his recent visit. He reports that Duane Peterson was also in attendance, as was Nick Stonington, who reportedly snuck out before the speech.

Joel Heinrichs was home in Bakers field, Calif. Joel is working as a budget analyst for local government. He is working on his masters in public administration. So far, Joel has two cats and no kids. Peter Hirshberg may have both kids and cats but I do not know because I only spoke to his answering machine in Menlo Park, Calif.

Barb Dau Hoffman answered the phone in Denver. Barb is an investment banker in the corporate finance division of Boettcher & Company. Her husband, Steve, is a doctor working on genetic research. Barb is already making her plans to come to reunion. Barb saved me some money by providing news of other '78s: Melinda Kassen is working for the Environmental Defense Fund. She was married a year ago to a photographer. Michael Whitcomb married Julie Williams. They had a baby last year. Michael is at Quaker in Chicago. Rumor has it that he is touring America's finer grocery stores for new product ideas.

Peter Holekamp is a local officer in correspondent banking at First Interstate Bank in Denver. I guess he uses his rocks major on weekend climbs. Barbara Gilson is pursuing graduate studies in photography at the U of Arizona in Tempe. She is in her third year, and has already gotten a lot of work in book publishing. Lisa Ostafin is working as an internist in Ann Arbor, Mich. I think she's married because she somehow acquired a two-year-old daughter along the way. Lisa set up an HMO for the U of Michigan and was the first participating doctor. She must be busy!

Dave King was home in Beverly Hills. Miraculously, he answered his own phone and blew the Beverly Hills image. Dave is a vice president with First Interstate Bank in their merchant banking group. Dave's wife, Chandraleka, is from Singapore. She is working as a clerical assistant in the Los Angeles County Art Museum. Dave reported that Randy Carroll has moved to Dallas, where he is working with Lincoln Hotels as director of legal affairs. All hotel affairs should be legal. Dave also sent word that Jimmy Vailas is doing his residency in orthopedics in Torrance, Calif. I thought Jimmy was doing his residency in Bethesda. You would think ten years would be enough time to manufacture a doctor. Dave sends greetings to all of Alpha Chi. Well, that's all the news I can afford! See you at reunion.
